The following photographs are real pictures taken of the Nintendo Revolution console. All three photos have been marked as *prototypes*, but they do give us an idea of what the console may look like once it is released next year.

Sorry it took me so long to get them up. I don't think anyone else in the states had them up though, so *maybe* I woke up just in time.

Can't tell if I hate this or the George Foreman PS3 worse.

It's funny, this design is totally like a PS2, yet I prefer it to the 360 and PS3 designs. It seems more like a console and less like just another piece of electronics for the stereo.
Then again, I remember how long it took me to get used to the Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 designs in retrospect....

I like it. It's a close tie between this and the 360 for me with design. I'm really not liking the PS2...it just...doesn't look right.

Looks like a DVD player you would install in the 5.25" bay of a PC.
On the upside, you can stack this system in your entertainment center with all your stereo\video componets...

Okay, so:
PS3 looks like a printer.
Xbox 360 looks like those compact desktop computers from the hospital.
Rev prototype looks like a black box.

I hate to say it, since I called the GCN a PURSE for a year and a half - but it lacks personality. It looks like a third party, generic casing peripherial - not like a Nintendo console. I guess this is what I get for complaining they are too kiddie... they go as far in the other direction as possible. Oh well, I will not miss the cheap plastic casing Big N likes to use.

I actually like it. It's the first console I've seen vertical where my first thought isn't about making it horizontal. It's small and compact and I like it's look better than the others. And honestly, I'd rather it have no personality and be and unassuming box than be something I'll hate looking at and have trouble stacking or placing with other pieces of equipment.

And there you have it folks... the contest for worst design of the next gen ends in a Triple-KO. Amazing.

I'm not so much concerned about aesthetics as I am about durability. I once dropped a TV on my GC, and besides a few scratches and chips on the case it was fine. This doesn't look like it'll be able to take quite that level of abuse though... looks like I'll have to be a bit more careful with the next-gen consoles :D

We all just need to calm down and breath. They even said during the press briefing that the Revolution wasn't in its final form AND the console will be smaller than it is now.
Now, about those games...

Real pictures of what? Renders? If those are real photos, I'll drink a Mountain Dew.

I dropped a coffee table on my 'cube while it was on, and it kept running. Never missed a beat, the disc inside didn't even get a scratch.

The photos, renders, or whatever you want to call them are real... as in, they were sent out directly to me from Nintendo UK/Nintendo Europe just as the Nintendo conference was starting here in the states.
By the way, the unit was shown at the press briefing and the *rendered* photos show exactly what we weren't able to see in the video.

I'd explain the difference between elegant and ostentatious, but seems like too much work. Anyway, you guys figure it out. Hint: PSP would be in category two.

So by real, you mean legitimate? Not actual photos taken with a camera. Just jpegs sent to you by a reliable source. Gotcha.
Although, that is a very nice render of a human hand. The floating discs gave it away as not being a "photo" though.
