The Nintendo Micro is a mini game boy, based on the Advanced architecture. It's about 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and .7 inches deep.
Update from EA Member Varsity:Among the various revelations at the still ongoing Nintendo press conference is the company's new console, the GameBoy Micro. Drawing surprised gasps from the audience, the new handheld is touted as an extension to the existing GameBoy line rather than a successor. Quoted as being 1/3 bigger than an iPod mini and 2/3 the weight (proportionally it is also quite similar) it will play all GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games. Sleek and with a slight curve to it's edges the central screen is flanked by the D-pad to the left and A/B buttons to the right with no other visible markings. A montage of different faceplates was also shown, demonstrating the GBM's customisability and Nintendo's quest to capture the 'style-conscious' non-gamer audience.

Huh, I still think Nintendo's foolish beyond belief for this. On the other hand that's a lot neater then I was expecting, especially if it comes in a couple of colors or one of the console skin companies turns out some for it. If they haven't added any more features to it though I'm not about to drop another $80 on a third GBA when that can go to the 360 or PS3.

While nice, I don't think the world is really looking for another iteration of the GBA architechture.

Haha! It looks like an NES controller... I may have to pick one of these up.

2 inches wide though, isn't that almost an inch smaller then the screen alone though? Forget that then, my SP's more then compact enough.

come on Nintendo! DO something neat and new - at least the DS was different. This is the third refinement of the GBA architecture - why waste your time and expect us to waste our money on the exact same thing over again? Even if this thing does support old school GB games, and thus have a large library, most people will not want to buy ANOTHER GBA! I imagine they still get kids growing into these things all the time, but the main group of consumers has already bought one.
Maybe this is like those Nintendo things we used to hear about all the time that were Japan only things - but now they are trying to market them here in the US. It's still fricking annoying.

yeah, those specs aren't quite right. it should say: "measures a mere 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep"

GBA Micro screen: 2 inches.
No thanks.

Yeah, how bout a game boy macro? A big screen would be nice for those of us not worried about having to fit the thing into our pockets. I'm talking a nice 5-6 inches. 16x9 format.

I'm aware you want a PSP type system, but the GBA is the last place you can get old school graphics in new games. A "new" GBA would kill that. This just make the already portable GBA even more portable.
Sorry, but if you have to have graphics go get a PSP.

Maybe this is a product for gnomes or another race of small handed people, like children. So is Nintendo just becoming a novelty company? Seriously, what next, 'Micro GBA SP' followed by the revolutionary 'Micro Micro GBA' which fits comfortably between the pores of your skin.
Ah...who am I kidding. If I had the money, I would so buy one.

Nothing is wrong with the games - I just wish that Nintendo would focus on innovating in new and unique directions (give us the successor to the GBA rather than continually telling us "this is not it"). Instead of rehashing and selling old titles (for exorbitant amounts of cash) they could give us new and better and more interesting. I am not opposed to selling a cartridge with lots of old games to reintroduce the classics to other people, but selling an NES game for 20 bucks a pop or making a new, tinier GBA that sells for who knows how much does not make me proud to be a Nintendo Fanboy. It makes me sad to see them falling into the pit of "why risk anything on the new, when we can repackage and sell the old for less?"
Maybe revolution will BE a revolution, but preliminary reports seem to indicate that it will just leave Nintendo in a sad third place.

Nintendo does not need a GB More Advanced yet, maybe when they can make one that is dirt cheap and as powerful as a Gamecube and lasts for 10 hours and uses inexpensive media. As the PSP is not what Nintendo wants.
The GB micro looks nice, all it needs is a way to hang from the keychain.

This is sweet handheld for kids and the masses of non-gamers. If the price is just right, they will sell a shitload of them - they just need to anounce like 50 custom colour faceplates and all is good!

hmm i dunno about this. personally not going to get one. if i didn't have a gba maybe before a long trip or something.
to me somethings not truly a portable system unless you can stick it in your pockets without it being uncomfortable.

Hey! I can fit it in my front pocket with my pens! Jokes aside, it does look very uncomfortable, with those sharp corners to match the utter ittiness (Real word, look it up!) of the machine.

Hopefully not. The PSP has 2D games as well, Darkstalkers for example in the US, and RPGs in Japan. I keep hoping for a full blown Castlevania SOTN type game, but who knows.
I love the GBA and it's 2D library, but it's a tradition I'd really like to see continued on the PSP. As for this thing... absolutely no thanks. I can't see playing gorgeous GBA games like FF Tactics Advanced on a screen the size of my cell phone.

This is it? I'm not a fanboy by any means but when the PSP dropped the Nintendo fanboys answered back by saying, "Just you wait. Nintendo's coming out with the next-gen GameBoy that will cream the PSP." Is this what they were talking about? If so I've got to agree with Furious.

Looks pretty cool, but I wouldn't buy one. Too small to be comfortable for long gaming sessions. I think Nintendo got the gba design just right with the sp, personally.

I don't know who you mean by 'Nintendo fanboys', but I know those of us at EvAv who appreciate Nintendo debunked those rumors immediately. Though some PSP owners tried to portray it as Nintendo conceding the defeat of the DS. No one with any grasp on reality thought Nintendo was going to be unveiling some 'PSP-killer' at E3.
Anyway, I might pick one up, depending on price. My SP was stolen, and a cheap replacement would be nice.

Hardly. More like Nintendo's quicky attempt to counter the PSP's sexyness. They even said as much and that it's for those who are image conscious, but wasn't the SP supposed to take care of that? It's not even like there's a steady flow, let alone a trickle, of GBA games anymore and only a handful announced for the upcoming year. I'd much rather see them try to turn the DS around and make it legitimately worth buying instead of reissuing a system with barely any new games. Did anyone who watched their presentation feel any comfort that they're back headed in the right direction though? All I saw was them blinded by their own arrogance claiming they were the best because they've sold 2 billion games and 96% of all handhelds. Only a fraction of which came in the past few years, and has been diminishing steadily, and is hardly enough to claim a healthy buisness on let alone the one that's dominating the market and at it's forefront.

Considering there are 40+ GBA games coming out in the next 6 months, I think calling it dead is a little premature. And even with the PSP out, Nintendo still has better than a third of the combined console/handheld market.
Am I the only one who threw up in their mouth a little when they saw this? I mean COME ON. Nintendo HAD to have just purchased stock in Sony, there's no other explanation.

The DS is NOT different! It's an up-to-date Donkey Kong machine! Nintendo has opened the retro 80's drawer. Bet their next machine will be one you hold up to your eyes. Mind you, for their target market they have hit the nail on the head - cheap fun handheld consoles that you can buy for your kids.
