Strategy Informer (http://www.strategyinformer.com/) has posted up 30 new screenshots for Fight Night Round 3 which is soon to be released on the Playstation 3. These screenshots are also for the PS3 version and show some great visual shots.

I loved FNR3 on the 360, and while these shots look pretty impressive, I really want to see it in motion. ;) It'd be cool if someone did a multi-platform comparison like CoD3.

There is in 1up.com. It looks better, but mostly because of new progressions on the shaders, rather than taking advantage of the power of the PS3.

The Austrailian IGN site already reviewed it and gave it a slightly lower score than the 360 version. The reviewer sited slow down issues and other issues (with the game itself), and even said it didn't look much different from the 360, nor have much more to offer at all for a game that had an extra 10 months to "bake". He mentioned though that the dumb fighting at the press conferences was removed, one of my only personal negatives about the title.

He also only scored the sound a 6.5, while I thought the 360 versions sound was incredible, on my 5.1 sound system, just amazing. I think his beef wasn't the effects but rather the commentary (which I enjoyed, even as it got repetitive).

So, I don't regret playing the 360 version over the PS3 version, sounds like. ;)

I was going to say this looks much better thant he 360 version until I seen the up close screenshots. They are using the same models with shittier textures, way to go overboard on the bump/normal textures and shading EA!

2D pixelated crowd FTW!! :D

This game was awesome on the 360 so I highly recommend it to those of you who bought a PS3. . . if you haven't already played it.

The only downside to FNR3 was the really in-your-face advertising. Hopefully, the PS3 version will have less of this for you guys.

I hate to see this game used as a 360 vs PS3 yardstick because it doesn't really prove anything. Give the 360 version crap spectators and slowdown and it will probably be able to pull off pulsing veins and improved sweat (never thought I'd use those two words together). EA just decided to divide the available resources a slightly different way on the PS3. I'd say it makes more sense to improve the boxers than the crowd, but I don't see this as being a "yah boo the PS3 is better than the 360" game at all.

/edit - evidence suggests that both games are a good buy.

>2D pixelated crowd FTW

360 had 3D crowds?

Yeah, the PS3 version looks like a bit of a visual upgrade. But after having a year of extra development time, it should be expected. ;)

CoD3 was released on the 360 and PS3 at the same time.

FNR3 was released a good year later on the PS3 over the 360.

You can't compare the two -- and if the 360 actually is the better overall game (performance, features, overall game 3D crowds, etc...) well I don't really know what the PS3 has going for it.

They did this with Fight Night Round 2 too. They shaved off polygons and details from the environment (stadium, crowds, etc) to heap on more on the boxers.

It actually looks extremely similar to me. That's what I expect we'll see in most cross-platform comparisons. The actual power difference between the systems is much closer this generation than it was between the PS2 and Xbox.

Does this game use the sixaxis to any effect?

At first I was all.."Holy Shit..that does look better!"

Then as I stared at the picures more & more I realized that it doesn't.
The Boxers may look slightly better but not by much at all.

EA had 10 months to make this game shine in a way no other game can. If this thing has framerate issues...

I don't understand why this is front page news.

The crowd seems to be cheering at something more interesting on the other side of the ring... ;)

I don't understand why this is front page news.Screenshots are often given front page coverage, so I wasn't too surprised. Looks like, in a lot of those screens, that the boxers have goosebumps.

Good to see that the ring girls are still as hideous as ever! Man, EA sure pushed them out of the ugly tree and made sure they hit every branch on the way down.
