I think this could be legit, as it looks like a evolution of PS2 design.

Though the font is the one from Spider Man the movie.

It also looks better than the 360, so yet again Sony makes a better looking machine, if this is real, but I trust A-team, so grats to getting it first.

They are legit as legit can get. SCEE sent those shots out exclusively like 15 minutes ago and thanks to a press hookup in the UK, we were able to get them up only a few minutes later.

And thanks btw. I'm not too surprised that we got them as fast as we did considering SCEE was the one that released them. Usually the American press portal is "slower" than the European one.

Rumor has it the Cell chip is twice has powerful then the 360's. How one CPU is better then three is beyond me.

It's odd, but the textures in the shot of Killzone look grainy. Perhaps they just over did it with the bit mapping for effect.

Unless they offer an adapter, there's no way you'll be able to. The unit comes with 6 USB ports and isn't said to have any "parallel" ports or whatever they're called.

I'd suspect that someone like Mad Catz will release an adapter.... maybe. :(

It's looking good. The controller's a bit... odd, but I complained about the PS2 controller and now I can't stand the original. And with the multi-processor generation we probably will be grilling steaks on the heatsinks.

I know they say Beauty is on the Eye of the Beholder and all that, but wtf are you on? PS2 was ugly as sin, and so is this. The machine looks like a breadmaker or something, and that controller just looks -wrong-. :)

I think those big stalks coming down the sides of the controller look pretty good for gripping. Wonder what sony has planned for those 6 usb ports... The bannana controller has to be the worst thing I've ever seen. And the shot of the three shades, silver, gray and black, reminded me of refrigerators. I would also like to know the purpose of THREE ethernet ports? So if 360 is based on the inhale, this is based on... that round feeling after eating too much turkey? On the positive though I really do like the standardized PC style power connector, eveything halfway big and electronic should use that.

After scrambling to get the shots up here and on my site, I finally got the chance to sit down and look at them myself. I must say that I'm highly disappointed in the design of the controller in that the "arms" of it just seem like they're way too long. Hopefully pictures of the reverse side of the control will explain why Sony designed it the way they did.

- I'm slightly surprised in the PC/Mac power supply-like power connection that was implemented.I can't really say I hate it, but it is a surprise like I said.

- The color variatations are a welcome change, but I'm sure that each of the three will sell for a seperate price. I'd *suspect* that Sony plans on releasing three variations, but you never know.

- The Spiderman-like text... what do you say to that?

Overall, I'd have to give Sony a thumbs up for trying to be original, but a slight thumbs down for the damn controller.

The boomerang controller looks like ass. The design of the console is fuckloads way better than the 360, very nice overall IMO. The specs seem to favor the PS3. Now it's time to see some games in action :)

Until I hold the controller in my hands, I don't give a fuck what it looks like. It does however, bear a striking resemblance to the Ascii controller for PSone that was shaped like a bat-r-ang. That controller (the ascii one) was one of the most comfortable controllers I've ever held BECAUSE of the long handles. The main flaw of it, and judging from the angle of the PS3 contoller it appears to have the same, is the placement of the shoulder buttons. They can be pretty awkward with such a circular design. We'll just have to wait and see.

I don;t get it. How are Metal Gear and FF in the brink of irreverence? I seem to remember lots of excitement when the last two editions of those franchises came out, and Metal Gear Acid seems to be a big deal.
I see your point though, I never got all the hype and speculation that comes out of E3, very rarely does a console/game make it from demo to production without major overhaul.
However, that controller looks really awkward to use. I'll wait till I have one in hand to judge, though.

Yeah, the PS3 controller resembles/seems to be a rip off a boomerang shaped controller for the original PS. I can't seem to find any images on the net of it, but I think I have an issue of EGM with an ad and review for it.

Anyway, I don't know what to say about the console design. I mean, it isn't hideous per say, but it would seem as though they either took the fancy plastic packaging from one of my dress shirts and modified it into a case for the system, or took the design from an all in one home theatre system that I saw recently with a similar shape.

Err, anyway, I don't think the pad looks THAT bad, but it seems odd to me they wouldn't finally move the left analog stick to the primary position. I mean, how many games do you primarily use the d-pad with? All I can think of is fighting games and then maybe to move around in menus in RPGs. Oh well, I won't be getting any of the system right away so I'll have time to try them all out and see which one I like the best.
