I thought this was supposed to come out today?
Ended up pushed back another week--here's hoping this time it stays put.

I really wanted this in time for thanksgiving but.. whatever. I'm excited none the less. I've never even played Metal Slug, but when a developer is putting value on the shelf, I'm going to support value.

This is a definite pickup for me sometime down the road. I still have Metal Slug 2nd Mission for my Neo Geo Pocket Color. Good times.

I've never played Metal Slug (aside from maybe once or twice in a Pizza Hut). Is it worth a buy or at least a rent for a newbie like myself?

It is worth your abject worship, pleb.
Seriously though, if the awesome animations and the quirky humor don't get you, then I don't know what to say. Except maybe "aliens, giant robots, huge explosions, and many, many gruesome ways to die".

Isn't this also hitting the PS2?
And Metal Slug is a great series, though word of warning to fans who haven't played it: Metal Slug 6 sucks. It's easily the worst of the series. So if you are a big fan you might just want to hold on to your Xbox releases for 3-5 and wait for the original two games to hit XBLA. 6 isn't worth a purchase.

The last time I played Metal Slug was at this comic book store in my area, Ground Zero I think it was. But when my friend and I started playing, the first thing I noticed was that the machine's display refresh rate was rediculously low, and the screen seemed dim to me.
When we finally started playing, I felt dizzy, and I just started laughing, I almost collapsed, I had to stop playing, I just couldn't look at the screen without it making me feel really messed up. I've never had that reaction to an arcade machine before, so I had to let my guy die and stop playing. My friend was okay though, he kept on playing.
Edit:
Oh yeah, I'm buying this game when it does come out. With all the included games it's practically a steal. Plus it just looks like a lot of fun.

Don't forget zombies (and turning into one).

I think it's supposed to be hitting the PS2 like a week or two after the Wii and PSP version hit for some reason.
