There are allot of bugs and tweaks they need to make in this game.

Horse charge is messed up.. and they wont go where you tell them//.

Enemies wont attack you (when they are trying to seige you ) .. they will just sit there

Everyone hates the papal assassin.. way too powerful

Archers wont fire at what you tell them too

Encouraging reviews. I loved the first one.

I beat the grand campaign using the English, but yes, some bugs were rampant. The fact that an Inquisitor can wipe out your entire royal family (King and heir to the throne included) because of their lack of piety isn't realism, it's foolishness. Also, there were many times where the enemy could have overrun my siege positions but instead they just sat there and let me literally empty my entire ammo reserve of catapults and cannons on to them rather than at least charging in to prevent me from doing that.

I was able to purchase the City of Jerusalem from the Mongols for a mere 100k Florins at the end of the game for the victory condition - that's probably not all that hard to believe, really.

I'm in love with this game.

Buddha, cavalry has changed from Rome: TW; they're a lot heavier and you need to let them charge on their own terms. Instead of double-clicking on the target unit, double-click near the target unit just to get them there fast. Then, line them up facing the enemy, and click once so they'll charge as a group. Don't worry if they walk for a little bit, they're just sizing up the right distance. If you've done it right, a unit of heavy cavalry (especially one with the "Powerful Charge" ability) can wipe out any unit of infantry. However, if you charge them from across the map they get all strung out and don't hit with the same force.

I don't know why, but I haven't really been hit by any Inquisitors yet. They wander around my lands, but they've only tried a few generals (and a few priests), and only once did I lose.

The siege bug is well-known, and they said they were fixing it in a patch that is scheduled to be released this week.

(Edit: I don't know why I typed "today" when I meant "this week".)

I'm having a blast playing this game and the graphics are amazing. It's now in my top games of all time list.

I'd say wait for the patch. And hopefully the Rome Total Realism team(s) get cracking on a M2:TR. If you haven't tried RTR, it's worth a re-install of Rome:

Unfortunately, the RTR team will not do a Total Realism mod for MTW2. I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I remember someone from the Trivium Organization said it, and they have quite a few former RTR people. Anyways, there's already two realism mods being worked on by two different teams. Sorry, can't remember there names.

But, I agree. RTR was the only way to play RTW, imo.

Oh, and its http://www.rometotalrealism.org

The .com is made by one of the team leads who had a falling out with the rest of the group and now he makes cash by setting up a dup website (.com) and loading it with ads and spy/ad ware.

Europa Barbarorum is a lot better than RTR.

Anyway I heard there is currently no way for modders to edit Medieval 2's soldier models or textures, even the unpacker coming with the patch won't allow them to do it. Hopefully someone figures something out.
