Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/14/news_6124579.html) has an article up about some ads seen around the Los Angeles convention center. Now, I hate the use of the "3" in words but I will admit the ad in quite intriguing. I cannot wait to see what sort of show Sony is going to put on this Monday, though I do have a feeling it will be dry and rather boring in comparison to Microsoft or Nintendo's fanfare on tuesday. I do kind of like those "To-the-point" Sony press conferences though.

I'm kind of with you on this. The much-touted Cell processor sounded intriguing years ago but it's always been my philosophy that the resulting games are what matters. The PS2 was purportedly difficult to program for, yet it still emerged as the dominant system of the 128 bit generation.
(When's the last time we talked about bits anyway, come to think of it?)
In any case, I'm excited to see what Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have to offer up.

yeah, the mention of bits has been on the decline. I dont even know what the next gen has for "bits". They died out in the 32/64 era i think. Good. Now we have all the other techno babble and jargon to deal with, but luckily I know most of it so I'm set. The average consumer wont have a fuckin' clue though. Bits helped their simple minds understand "power."

Who is Chang 3?
Is Sony in the business of human cloning? And, if so, why are they only cloning Chang?

I think Sony will drop a small bomb during their conference with the PS3, but other than that I wouldn't expect anything other than tech demos or the usual Sony-raped franchises.

And why must this Chang be cloned thrice?
I have this gut feeling that I'm going to like Nintendo's offering overall... and I've always been a Sony fan. Now, Microsoft... prepare for ball droppage.

gigaflops are the new bits.
Also, when did Sony fanboys overtake Nintendopes as the scariest people online? The speculation and adulation of that billboard is boardering on the fanatical. I have a feeling Sony could show a render of Solid Snake's stubble, and a lot of these guys would be running around their living rooms barechested, swinging their shirts around in the air.

Well, I think it's obvious that the previous Chang clones were violent mutants that had to be destroyed.

Does this mean that all PS3 games will be the quality of Driv3r?

bits, bites, megs, hertz, flops, cycles... I DON'T CARE.
I personally thought that the Nintendo 64 was too tech-centric a name. Ah well.

I hope EA will not turn totally anti-Sony in the next few months.
And that last post of mine was a joke, Reanimated. You didn't take it seriously, did you?

I don't rember the exact numbers but PS2 is 128 the Gamecube is more powerfull and X-box is the most in this generation. Thou I wonder what the bits will be in next-gen?

I remember E3 2004, Sony was crying how Microsoft was in such a hurry to end the current generation of console gaming and with recent speculation that the PlayStation 3 will be the more powerful machine maybe their message for E3 this year is "Welcome Change"? Guess we'll all have a better idea tomorrow around 3pm.

Or MS could run a viral marketing campaign and get people to drive 12 hours for a DVD.

No, Wip3Out. MS & Nintendo teh d00med!

I don't think any of the current generation consoles have CPUs that are more than 32 bit, but they have specialized processing units that can handle more, like the Emotion Engine (128 bit) in the PS2. Anyway, comparing bits is not the way to go when comparing power. Marketing people seem to like it though, and they always pick the highest number no matter what it is, like one of the buses, or amount of pins on the CPU, or something.
Back on track, I hope Sony hires David Lynch for their commercials again to visualize this "chang3". The Third Place shorts were great :D
