So this is just PSO 1 + 2 with some improvements, ala the Xbox version, but for the PC?
Personally PSO isn't for me, way too much of a grind and I guess I didn't enjoy the setting either.

Cool, first news item of mine to make front page. anyways, I figured I might as well let as many people in on this as possible. The open beta is in full swing now, they had some server issues earlier in the week, but now all is fine and ready to go. They even stomped out a lvl and dupe hack and all people who were found to be using it were set back to naked level one users LOL
Im playing it and enjoying myself. I have all the grfx options maxed and the Dreamcast PSO stil looks better. Anyone elce have this?

Well, I don't use a CRT to use my PC, I play and use it on a 27" SONY WEGA Flatscreen TV. So most games never go higher than 640x480 or 800x600 for me.

The part I hate is that, when you beat a boss, you can't go to the next level. You need to beat all of the quests now. That's really, really lame, and hurts the simplicity of the game.

I'm going to go on a streach and say I had more fun with WoW. I really liked the setting, there's just not an impression of anything going on.

PSO is really starting to show it's age, and I think it sucks that Sega isn't doing anything about it (unless you count Phantasy Star Universe, but that's just an RPG). They've rereleased this game so many times, adding little bits here and there but leaving the game largely unchanged. On the one hand, it's great for people who love it the way it is, but on the other hand it sucks because there's a lot of potential for improvement.

well ive never had a chance to really try pso at all, so to me, its refreshing as a diablo style rpg.

Try something called reading. PSU will have separate offline and online games. The online will be like PSO 2. The offline will be like... a, uh, Phantasy Star spinoff action-RPG.
And also, if "showing its age" is the reason that I'm still coming back to my computer to play this beta after having put in 500+ hours into 5 previous versions, then I'll take it.
