GameSetWatch brings the unusual news of a new partnership: (http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2006/11/ubisoft_nivea_make_beautiful_s.php)
In any case: "NIVEA FOR MEN, the #1 men's skin care line in the mass market, has partnered with Philips Norelco Cool Skin Razor to integrate product placements into Ubisoft's video game, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent(TM)." But we thought Sam Fisher was all stubble-y?
This makes my head hurt. Oh well, I wasn't buying it anyway after what they've done to the MP.

I dunno about the integration, but I love the Nivea for Men Sensitive Shave Gel and Aftershave Balm too. That stuff is awesome.

During the Mexico mission, check out the TV in Fisher's room where he starts out.
You'll see the Nivea ad there. It's not very prominent, I'm perfectly happy with how they put it into the game.

I don't mind when companies or individuals use advertising to help compensate for ongoing costs, like server hosting, but putting this shit into the single player component of a game that you've just paid $60 for is pretty fucking low.
Advertising is a huge part of our world and whether you're willing to admit it or not is up to you, but as long as it isn't shoved down your throat via intrusive software, I could give a shit if there's an ad on a TV in a game.

How else do all the JBA members have such sexy stubble?
Because the JBA is sponsored by Nivea!
What's wrong with the MP? I played the demo and I had no problem with it... did I miss something?

Nivea's men skincare products are actually pretty good. Better than most games out there, in comparison.
Can't stop the train, baby.

I'm not really into the Splinter Cell games much. When I settle in for my rare few hours of gaming, complete with a refreshing Coca-Cola (tm) (http://www.coca-cola.com/home.htm?lang=en_US) and Spicy Nacho Doritos (tm) (http://www.doritos.com/), I want something more invigorating; Something that makes me feel like I just shaved with a Philips Norelco Cool Skin Razor (http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/MENS_GROOMING_GR_US_NORELCO/MEN_LOTIONDISPENSINGRAZORS_CA_US_NORELCO/catalog.jsp?language=en&country=US&catalogType=NORELCO&proxybuster=DY4HHRCL44MUHJ0RMRCSHQFHKFSESI5P), for instance.

The wave of the future....microtransactions and in-game advertising. :(

I don't know why we're getting an announcement on this now because it was in the game at launch. You can see Nivea's (TM) fine products at Sam's sink in the JBA headquarters and other places (such as a giant electric billboard on top of a Shanghai skyscraper).
And yeah, it sucks, but it's less in-your-face and obnoxious than Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter's Dodge and Axe ads, and certainly a world better than an EA game like Fight Night Round 3. So it's merely a lesser evil than what I've seen elsewhere.
It doesn't change my hatred for all in-game advertising. Ever.

You're a hard-chargerI had to look this up on UrbanDictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hard+charger) because I'm not "hip" to the latest "lingo." I'm still confused, though. Did I just get a "sick burn" applied to me?

I have yet to play it...but yes, they changed it drastically from the awesome, but unforgiving 2 vs 2 game it used to be. I only played Pandora for PS2, but I LOVED it so so much.

Hah. Neither am I. That piece of terminology was bestowed onto me by ZeFrank (watch his show damnit), and I just thought that it was fit because you said something about a man-train.
EDIT: After actually reading what you linked to, I realize that I wasn't aware of the true definition of the word! I thought it meant something of the lines of a very 'outgoing' gay person that charged hard...into men. I was wrong. Sorry F3nyx.

Big. Fucking. Deal.

Nivea's some good stuff. And discrete product placement in an area that makes sense is something that's been everywhere for ages, even in (gasp) novels, since some of it is simply unavoidable.

Holy shit are people actually supporting this? What are you all fucking working for the advertisers? I think that must be it because this is impossibly vile bullshit that I for one absolutely refuse to PAY for.
