Far Cry Instincts preview (XBOX)

Xbox.IGN (http://xbox.ign.com/) has posted a preview (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/611/611965p1.html) including screenshots and in-game movies of Far Cry Instincts. The preview reveals IGN's impressions of the new additions, changes, and improvements made from the original PC version of Far Cry.

And, the litany of extras, additions, and changes specificaly tailoring the game for XBox create an experience that in many ways might actually be better than the PC version.

I am doubtful the Xbox version will exceed the original PC version of Far Cry.Is anyone planning on picking this up?

I'd rather play on my xbox, so I'll be getting this. I know it won't look as good as the PC version.

I never played it on the PC and it looks pretty good so I'll probably pick it up.

I've always been curious as to why this game is taking so long. I may be a PS2 fanboi but I hope they drop that version, it was a complete insult to the PC version.

It actually sounds like they made it a finished game. The original was a very nice looking game, and it had some cool gameplay elements, but it was unbearably long, and became quite contrived toward the end. Expanding on Jack becoming a beast earlier in the game, and actually making that useful in a gameplay sense, sounds awesome.

I really hope they dropped the voice actor, though.

This version is looking much better than expected. I am surprised that they were able to retain this much of the sight distance, and foliage density. Technically, the game looks very similar to what was done on the PC, just with the expected drop in texture resolution and shadows. Other than that, it has me interested. Never played it on PC, so I am pleased that this version looks to be coming along nicely.

Although the pc version will look much better, I'm sad to say (as I'm a pc fanboy) that this xbox version will probebly have a much better story. And hopefully the mercs will yell better insults. No more "I'm gonna fix your litte red wagon!...MOFO"

i thot the pc version was one of 2004's best fps. it came out 7 months before Doom 3 and having completed both games, FC wins easily hands down. those of you who are skipping the pc version for the xbox version are missing out big time...and the pc version is selling now for less than $20 everywhere.

I remember when I first heard about Far Cry, the talk was about how great the engine looked not only on the PC, but on the Xbox too.

After the DOOM III port to the Xbox, I wouldn't be surprised if the Xbox version of Far Cry IS nearly as impressive.

nah, won't be possible - xbox isn't capable of loading those huge maps.
