My first weekend as a red and I come up with a fancy new idea: weekly game release list for our European readers. I hope to get the list up on each Sunday or Monday but it might take a couple weeks to work the kinks out.

There are some conflicting release dates for Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Pro Evolution Soccer. A couple sites have them listed for this week and others for Q1 2007. If anyone has more definite information let me know and I'll update the list.

If anyone has a site they'd recommend as being up to date with release times for the UK I'd be most appreciative. There seem to be a number of different dates for some games left off the list. I'm liking To The Game (http://www.tothegame.com/) as they have dates for uS and UK. I'm just wondering how accurate they are.

This is a good idea. And while this may be a stretch, I wouldn't mind seeing Japanese releases as well. I'm sure there are enough importers on here that would like one centralized place to see what's available from all regions.

Not a bad idea at all, my formerly pink friend.

I'd highly recommend the Gamasutra Release This! column that comes out every Monday. It has all of the pending releases for every region and tends to be pretty good about keeping it error free. Linky! (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/column_index.php?toplevel=6)

Pssst! Just import the Japanese version! It's got the full english version included and it's GREAT! All hail region-free games and systems!
the DS port of Gyakuten Saiban 2, otherwise known as the upcoming Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All. Gyakuten Saiban 2's release is significant, as the title features an option to render all in-game text in English -- effectively granting gamers access to the anticipated sequel to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney several months in advance of its planned U.S. release.

Lose the bullets. Use " - " if necessary but Evil and BAP doesn't and it looks fine. Great idea but, Like Adam, I like to see a Japanese release. Importing being the reason and Europe gets screwed over on the dates too often.

Red = Site staff: Moderators, Reviewers, Scottish Hookers, Podcasters, and Dr. Finger

Pink (previously only GunnyMo, now only RandomViolence) = Donated at least $100 (at one time, I think is understood) I hope after the holidays to be able to make it into the pink (zing!)

Orange = Enlightened User: Donated Cash from their User CP page (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/subscriptions.php?)

Yellow = Let it mellow. Er.... Hasn't paid but can still be a very valuable asset to the site.

Thanks for the Gamasutra link, Spigot. I'd hate to copy them verbatim but I'll take a look at the column tomorrow. If they list Japanese releases as well I'll see about doing that list, too. Since I doubt importers will be importing the day a game comes out I may put that list up on Wednesdays with Europe's list on Sunday/Monday. I think what I will do is no matter where I get the release date I'll link to a variety of sites for reviews/previews. Put a few different flavors out there.

edit: dang, that is a good list. :) I'll be sure to use it next week for Europe and this Wednesday for Japan. Thanks!

Not trying to call you out - I'm sure it features English - but I'm not sure about exactly what teams/features will make it to the DS (regardless of region) - but Pro Evo is usually a whole different kettle of carp in Japan - with J-League teams, national (Japan) team modes , and J-League/Japan national team-centric packaging/menus/introductions...

Please let me know tho - because I need a PES fix to make up for the letdown that was 360 PES6....
(see how I find a way to slip that into most every post?)

I don't really get the hate comment on Gears though.

FFXII sucks for being so late. They probably going to relaese it on jan 12-13, right alongside Mass Effect, Lost Planet and Bioshock. Damn them all to hell.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. As I said, it'll take a couple weeks to tweak it so it's just right. I may update it today with some of the new information I've received.

Good segment. It makes those of us on this side of the pond feel slightly less ignored. :p

Gears of War for me. Going to go and get it before my lectures on Friday morning. I don't know what the chances of them selling out before 4.30pm is, but I'm not going to take any chances. We'll have to see if my willpower is enough to keep me in uni all day.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yes, I was talking about Phoenix Wright 2, not PES.

Phoenix Wright 2 is awesome... not so sure about PES 38794.

Also I'd like to clarify.

Europeans do not hate Gears of War.

Eurogamer gave Gears of War 8/10.

8/10 is a very good game on their site. Halo 1 got 8... Halo 2 got 9... Recently Neverwinter Nights 2 got a 8 and it's an excellent game. (And I agree with them that Halo 2 was better than Halo 1... crap ending but better game)

Yeah my post was meant to be tongue in cheek (which I realize wasn't very clear), I had read something on JoyStiq about this ridiculous controversy involving Eurogamer and it's 8/10 GoW review. Which obviously is no big deal.

Plus proper British chips are bigger (and indeed badder) than what are normally called french fries. :D
