Tomorrow night (which will be Friday the 13th here, of all things) on A Current Affair with Ray Martin (Channel 9, Australia) they're going to have an "exclusive" (their words) report on the Xbox 360 and how it's going to be incredible or something. The little preview they gave showed off people poking at the white console and controller with the ball in the center.

For Aussies who want to watch the report, it's on at 7:00pm EST, Channel 9 (where I am anyway). If I remember to watch I'll report my findings in the comments. It'll be interesting to see how mainstream media can grasp this, especially one as poor as Australia's.

For those who can't stand Ray Martin (that's everyone I know), it looks like it's the top story, won't have to torture yourself for long.

How is it the Ausie's version of this show is much better than the American's? All we get is pseudo soap opera crap, full of petty people and their asinine lives. Must be nice down under.

I read Australian media from time to time here: http://www.smh.com.au/

*shrug* seems pretty similar to American media to me.

The MTV event will be broadcast all over the globe anyway for the hardcore via torrent.

Tomorrow will be Friday the 13th here as well. Crazy how that works eh?

Kidding aside, "technically" it's airing in Canada on Friday the 13th as well, at 12:30am (just after midnight tonight) on CTV, though half the Canadians out there get the US broadcast of MTV anyways, so we can just watch it at the same time as the states.

I wonder which would be watchable first, getting the torrent encoded, posted and downloaded in time, or just watching it on CTV if you had no choice?

Some people don't grasp timezones Track, clarity is key.

And bloody hell, SMH? Better then the Age I suppose, or The Australian which is prone to publishing complete garbage..

No to self-promote, but Kotaku will have a full story with official specs, interviews and pictures up at the stroke of 9:30 p.m. EST, if you don't want to sit through the entire MTV show.

Thanks for the heads up I will check it out as I will be out tonight and miss the show. Plus I cannot stand MTV it isn't even their sucky choice of music its the fact that they don't seem to be a music channel.

What I am hoping is that various web sites have already been sent anything important [trailers, screenshots, gameplay] and that they will be putting this stuff online when the MTV thing airs. While I am planning to watch and record the MTV special, it would be nice to access the good stuff online at will. In any case, I hope that this show will open a floodgate of 360 goodness.

Some DoA 4 shots, look like they're running on next-gen hardware. Site is taking a bit of a hammering since they got posted.

here in states, when something is the "top story" you have to wait until the very end of the show to see it, so they can prevent people from tuning in and then tuning out half way through the show.

i hates it.

I was wondering how to get Australia into the title of that post, now it all makes sense :P

Thanks whoever did it, you can tell CoH and GW has removed sleep from my life.

And Marathon, yeah we have that problem as well, though not as bad as I've seen in the US. Of course the top story is usually a shock or fear piece, leaving stuff like celebrity interviews for the end to cheer people up. Might end up being the case with the Xbox 360, though ACA has done stuff on violent videogames in the past, and LOVES stories about obese kids. Report may end up having something for everyone.

ACA is horrible the world over. Usually it's full of crap like "which Orange Juice tastes better? Australia decides" or "this man ripped off ten bajillion dollars from taxpayers like YOU". They are on Channel 9 and Channel 9 is suffering big time at the moment - National Nine News and ACA are their flagship programs, number one ratings winners. Except not so much anymore.

The other night took the cake though. Lost (yes, the awesome TV show) has been licenced by Channel 7, yet ACA ran a piece called "the drama behind the drama" or some crap like that, which basically showed a whole bunch of interviews with the cast, talked about somebody dying, then SHOWED THE PLANE FALLING OFF THE CLIFF. Effectively spoiling the whole event (although we still don't know who died, so don't tell us - we're about six or seven episodes behind you at the moment).

It will be very interesting to see what they say about the XBox 360, considering they've had a vendetta against videogames ("are videogames giving YOUR kids cancer?") since as long as I can remember. Then again, as a fan of intellectual stimuli, ACA hasn't been on the top of my list. Anyone who watches this, don't believe a damn thing they say.

Also, check out a show called Frontline (or, Behind the Frontline as it is known in the US) - it's basically a bitingly honest parody of current affairs programming, and was directly inspired by our ACA.

I watch ACA so I don't have to watch Home and Away. It's the lesser of two evils.

Frontline, though quite old now, is still one of the best things to come out of this country and still current (especially since Mike Moore was a direct clone of Ray Martin).

And just remember that ACA at least has more credibility then Today Tonight :p

Ok just watched it.
Its actually pretty interesting seeing it portrayed on a show like current affair.

They kept making switching between 1980 technology(cordless razors) to the next xbox.

I have a feeling they really had no idea. At the end of the bit, ray was talking as if it was already out in america, and will not reach australia till early next year.

Weird, ACA just started for me.

Right now it's an outrage story that airport staff are allowed in airports.

Looks like it'll be last, Marathon was right.

Had a thing on property, now some black kid who had (mostly fixed now) terrible burns is going home, which is apparntly an outrage.

DIY real estate, as if they haven't done that story 1000 times before.

Ok, here we go.

Looks like the MTV thing, nice bits of gameplay footage. A man is fondling the console, now actors are talking. More nice gameplay again. Crazy old people there.

Well it really concentrated on Xbox Live stuff and graphics, no technical details really, other then saying that everything was wireless. Reporter said it'd be out in 6 months in the states and next year for here, only Ray fucked that last bit. Interestingly, the reporter also said the Aussie price tag would $600AU, based in fact or not who knows.

All in all it was rather inoffensive, other then the celebrities there for no reason but that wasn't ACA's fault.
