Gothic 3 is the third part of the RPG legend presenting an intense, living world and a non-linear, varied gaming experience. In the first two parts of Gothic, you fought along a hard way from being a prisoner to becoming the hero of Khorinis, the strategically important mining island. Now the time has come for you and your friends to discover and fight across the mainland of Myrtana.

Aspyr/JoWood have released a massive 1Gigabyte demo allowing you to try put the beginning area of the game, including the towns of Ardea and Cape Dun and the Rebel outpost Reddock, with all available quests, weapons, spells and NPCs. There will be no time limits imposed on players.

Bugthic 3: Experience the tension as any given step could be your last! Meet and untimely demise by many dangerous enemies and enviornmental traps such as:

Local Fauna injected with PCP!
Boars that enjoy sodomizing you after knocking you unconcious!
Getting stuck in various objects in the enviornment!
Falling through the world!
Attacks by the evil Corrupted Save Demon!
Getting ripped off by bugged merchants!

There is a plethora of intended and non-intended "challenges" that await you!

to give the game some credit there is a rather deep game hidden underneath all the crap and perhaps after the game has a buncha patches under its belt it would be enjoyable

Additional Features in the full European version!

* Code-it-yourself™ - We've left the main .ini unoptimized and missing a couple of zeroes - put all those years in front of your PC to use and see if you can figure out how to make the game run with some semblance of smoothness!

* Real World Clumsiness - In a fight situation, hearts race and adrenaline flows. All it takes is the slightest imbalance to send you careening off your feet face first into the ground - so you may as well hit the quickload button because the ground's probably where you're gonna stay, careful folks!

* Mandatory Post-Processing Effects - We put a lot of work into our game's engine, and by fuck you're gonna use every last bit of it. If you disable our lovely post-processing effects, we may choose to inflict your copy of Gothic III with some random white epilepsy-inducing flickering. Enjoy your lovely-looking game or we'll see you in the ER :D

Yes I've enjoyed some parts of Gothic III as well, but I'm tired of sneaking around the wildlife at level 15+, so it's on hold for now

Ya I have to say. After purchasing the game( I couldn't wait to get it). I have uninstalled it and actually thrown it away. Not only is it unoptomized and buggy. It is one of the most purely unbalanced games I have seen. Just terrible in many aspects. I was hoping it would be better than Oblivion though they are not exactly alike. All I can say is I am glad they have a demo so people don't make my mistake.

So how's the performance in the demo? Is it any better than the actual game?

I see no mention of the FilePlanet Supreme Commander multiplayer beta (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/supremecommander/open/landing.aspx) in this post. No paid account required, go get your free beta keys.

Gothic 3 sucks, I was so disappointed because I loved Gothic 1 and 2. The only way i'll give it another try is if they fix the insane loading times and horrible performance.

Is every forum turning into NeoGAF these days?

I've lately gotten that feeling with EvilAvatar and this thread is no exception... sad but true.

Supreme Commander rocks, after tooling around for a week of beta I am posilutely exitamated about the direction Chris Taylor is taking the game.

No, it's just that the vocal minority are negative bastards.

I have had no troubles with the demo. The people who are running into trouble either didnot download Direct 9.c version before loading the game, or do not have a system that is capable of running it. My system is just short on the ram, but for the most part, I noticed few slowdowns.

I am enjoying it, but not sure I like the new voices of the main characters, and the combat system is not as bad as everyone says it is. You just can't keep hitting the left button all the time. ONce you stop that, you can do a lot of things. Also, the boar thing is just an overblown issue - they were not that difficult if you thought about what you were going to do.

After playing the full version of this game, the only think I can think of that's similar is Dungeon Lord. That's all I have to say.

Sorry did all that. And many of the people in the OFFICIAL forum have done that. so no not all the people complaining didn't do that. When you spend 60 bucks on a game you expect it to work. ESPECIALLY many of us who have good computers.

I'll give you $10 for your copy.

I have not encountered any of the problems people are cliaming they've had. I love the combat system and the way you actually develop skills in a realistic way.... I've been wanting that in an RPG for years.

<shrug> It does take some getting used to, but other RPGs feel clunky after a while.

But if you still have your copy, I'll paypal you $10 for it and we'll make a deal.

on the stability and performance issue in the demo..

increasing the resource cache size in the costum setting seems to help a lot actually, on further investigation.

not that it's going get rocky steady and ultra smooth performance.. but it helps. I'd say about Oblivion stable give or take.. ;)

I like the demo so far.. crashes excluded.

though it is probably released 3 months too early before proper QA. I could easliy imagine JoWood rushing the game to market because of christmas.

and patch 1.09 is out for the full game.. should help
