Gamer's Hell (http://www.gamershell.com/news/22010.html) sends along word that special effects master Tom Savini will lend his voice talent to Hip Games upcoming title, City of the Dead.
Hip Games today announced that horror icon Tom Savini, star of "From Dusk Till Dawn" and a noted horror makeup artist, will appear in City of the Dead, the first game based on the work of popular cult horror director George A. Romero and developed by Kuju Entertainment. Savini will bring his voice and likeness to William "Red" McLean, a battle-worn ex-law enforcement officer who is a survivor to the core. Savini’s character will initially provide fire support in the game then be playable, allowing gamers to experience the game through the eyes of "Red". The first build of City of the Dead will be unveiled behind closed doors next week during E3 2005. City of the Dead will be available for PC, PS2 and Xbox in spring 2006.

Sounds like he could be reprising the same character he played in the Dawn remake (who was just listed in the credits as "The County Sheriff"). Note that he's also in Land of the Dead, reprising his role from the original Dawn. Very neat.

Tom Savini is awesome. Dawn of the Dead (1978) was, IMO, the best horror film ever made, and his effects helped make it possible.
He also did some damn fine effects work on the original Friday the 13th movie.

He survived Dawn?
The lead biker character was torn apart by zombies in Dawn of the Dead.
The dorky sherrif from NotLD was played by Savini in DotD 2004, that character could have survived.

Tom Savini's character in the original DOTD didn't get ripped apart. He was bitten, and then jumped/was pushed off the mall balcony on to the lower floor.
One biker guy got his guts ripped out, but it wasn't Savini, or the dude they had as the biker leader.
Romero had nothing to do with the remake, so I highly doubt he's going to reprise a role from it. Savini is playing the zombie version of his character "Blades" from the original film. I know that for a fact.
Sorry, I have watched that movie too much. :)

Ah, that's our Draft. If only you could bottle personality like that. Oh wait, you can (https://secure.thyme-online.com/purity/photos/bottlecontain.jpg)!
I still plan to catch Attack of the Show tonight since he's on it though (this'll be my 2nd time even watching the show).
