View Full Version : Assassins Creed Interview

Producer Jade Raymond did an interview with CVG where she discussed her upcoming, highly anticipated project, Assassins Creed. There's definitely some meat in this article, so check it out. Link (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=148805).

Is the game's focus stealth like Splinter Cell or action like Prince of Persia?

Jade Raymond: Our goal with this game is to deliver completely next-gen gameplay, so the team set the bar where no game has gone before. I really wouldn't call it a stealth game because it's much more focused on fast-paced action. The only stealth element is the social stealth where you use the crowds to disguise yourself, but we've steered clear of the traditional rules of stealth games like hiding in shadows or sneaking around corners. That's not really what Assassin's Creed is striving for at all.I can't wait...

The last video of this really intrigued me. The smoothness of your character truly evoked a next-gen Prince of Persia feel. I was definitely impressed. But I'm a little hesitant with my impression of the plot, so I'll be waiting for reviews.

She is regarded as being a very attractive woman. Last I checked, there was nothing wrong with being attractive. I wasn't insinuating that she was a producer because she is attractive, nor was I saying she wasn't good at her job. I just stated the obvious; she's hot and has a great taste in movies TV shows and professions

I'm not even going to get into this, but as her appearance nor her gender has anything to do with her position nor Assasin's Creed, bringing it up is a form of sexual harrassment. Obviously you don't work with her and there's no way she is going to sue you, it simply has no place in a conversation about Assasin's Creed. Most women operating in a professiona environement are not going to take you calling them sexy a compliment. Most women you are not involved with are not going to take you calling them sexy as a compliment.

But, I'm not going to mention anything else about it. I'll leave you and Tomonobu Itagaki in your frat house together.

Yeah, unless she's in a beauty pageant or you're on a date with her, or maybe at a formal party depending on the circumstances, there's not really a reason to bring it up. It's the equivalent of walking up to someone, saying hi, and whipping out your cock. It's not wrong in and of itself, but there is a time and a place for it.

I like how every time there is a post on this forum, regardless of what it's about, someone has to degenerate it into something OTHER than what the topic is about. Here we have some really interesting information on a game that most of us are excited about, and we're talking about whether or not it's ok to say a woman is attractive.

And I'm sure if I had made a post about "Sexy Jessica Simpson" no one would have said anything. But for whatever reason referring to an attractive woman in the game field is sexual harassment.

I go to yearly sexual harrassment classes, just so we know when to recognize it. Siraris's single adjective would definitely not be sexual harrassment. It must be "unwanted" and a pattern over time. One instance of saying, that about someone is not going to win you any lawsuits.

It's actually more difficult than you'd think. True, it's not PC, but it's a long long ways from sexual harrassment.

im with you on this one. women are stereotyped by their looks all the time - and so are men. its shitty that everytime she gives an interview bunches of geeks on the internet gush over how hot she is.

yes its a compliment - but we don't know if its a welcome one or not. in some cases, yes the compliment is welcome - but in many - no it isn't, and just creates an uncomfortable space between the person complimented and the complimenter.

but we're on the fucking internet so who gives a shit. its not like she reads these boards, and if she did, she probably wouldn't reveal her identity because of comments like this.

Thank you Buddha, and Giadda is DROP DEAD gorgeous.

She's in the public eye, if she didn't want to be in the public eye, she wouldn't have been on a TV show (Electronic Playground) and she also wouldn't make herself a "face". Last I checked, she was brought out at X06 to show off Creed. How many producers/designers/lead programmers were brought out to show off their games? Only the big names were, because they are known and will generate hype. Why was Jade brought out? Because she's HOT.

There are thousands of sites and forums that have people referring to famous women, or even not very famous women as hot/sexy/gorgeous/smoking. Yet somehow me referring to an attractive woman in a tongue and cheek way is sexual harassment and worthy of derailing an entire thread about.

Yep, and that's a company decision. There is a bit more leeway in a corporate policy. You can lose your job at some companies for having a moustache, but it's not illegal. The employee could fight it. The civil or criminal cases require lawyers and the whole works. Much different.

After 8 years at my company, these annual "Sexual Harrassment" road shows are quite entertaining. We joke more in those presentations, than at any time during the year, but it is good information. We've only had one problem in our local office in the last 8 years, so they do help.

It's nice to learn the reality however, because many people think you can't even say things like, "You look very pretty today" or "That dress looks nice". You can say those things, but not while making funny faces or the international sign for sex with your hands.

You can also not say, "You look frickin' hotter than a fire cracker" or "That dress fits you like a slippery red hot glove". You know, it's all in the delivery and the content. Even if you said, those things it could get reported and cause you and HR problem, but it wouldn't win anyone a court case unless it was "unwanted" and "over time or consistent"....

Hope that helps. :)

I cannot wait for this game....

I don't think there's a heterosexual male alive who wouldn't find jade Raymond attractive - and obviously her professions and interests make her an object of desire for many gamers - but that has nothing to do with the fact that..

This game is gonna rock. Regardless.
As I think we can all agree upon.

1.) Jack B is absolutely right. That's a corporate decision. My company makes it clear that telling someone their attractive is not sexual harrasment. Neither is staring actually, particularly since we're a global company, and that's acceptable (and a compliment) in a lot of cultures..especially Latin America.
2.)She's fucking hot. Even more so because she's obviously brilliant.

When is it supposed to come out? Spring 07? Summer at the latest? That still leaves some time between the release and the end of the year.

If Halo 3 sees an '07 release, I'm expecting it to steal Game of the Year. Though as good as it'll no doubt be, it won't deserve GOTY.

That's because of tight-asses who have to turn everything into a personal attack (or a frivolous lawsuit).

By the way, as much much I'm certain you're impressed with yourself, should your particular work experience make you an expert on sexual harassment?

We live in a country where the President can walk away from getting a hummer at his desk. If your delicate sensibilities can't handle a comment about whether a woman is hot, you may face some difficulties when you venture outside your Vault for the first time.

Finally, does anyone remember Stevie "Killcreek" Case? Level designer who posed for Playboy? It's not like it's a new thing that people are lusting after women in "the industry."

The problem is that when you say things like "Jade Raymond is hot" you're ruining people's fantasies. I'll bet most of these people "defending" Jade Raymond probably think they're going to end up marrying her.

If you think "hey, I want to have sex with you" is a compliment, then you're the tools who ruin our reputation with the opposite sex. And saying "I'm okay with it" is just ridiculous.

I think what the sane people are getting at is that what you think is a compliment, is NOT a compliment. It's why in those essays to men, or whatever, that you get in forwards on the internet, the one thing that shows up in all of htem is "say I'm beautiful, not "you look hot""
