Dungeon Siege II is the sequel to Dungeon Siege, an action fantasy role-playing game featuring an immersive fully 3-D environment. Dungeon Siege II plunges players into a 3-D fantasy world where players can build up a party and move seamlessly from one over-the-top battle to the next. WorthPlaying (http://www.worthplaying.com) had a chance to fiddle around with a recent DS II preview build, here is a snip :
Where one person can design a hit-point heavy, slow-moving, two-handed weapon-swinging combat monster by focusing on melee skill, another player can put a small, fast weapon in each hand and focus on agility and quick attacks. The best results seem to come from focusing on doing one thing very well, but there's enough room to play Jack (or Jill) Of All Trades, if you really feel like it. One very nice feature is the ability to cultivate healing potions and magic recovery potions from the plant life around you. Another fun addition is the enchantment system. Can't make the random item drops give you what you want? Get in there and make it yourself.Check the full Dungeon Siege II preview (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25276) over at WorthPlaying.

Hmmm... I liked the first one, but tired of it about halfway through or so. It was just too repetitive. I hope this new one adds a bit more variety.

This looks great, I'm gonna pick it up. Hopefully they have a nice booth at E3 to visit :)

Co-op multiplayer suitable for two people on a LAN. That's all I want. Precious few games offer this, the original was one.

The first one felt like i was watching a video game instead of playing. Prolly the most boring dungeon crawl I have ever had the misfortune of stealing from a friend.

Eh, actually it seems about as easy to walk-through as the first. Just set everyone to auto-attack or auto-heal and advance the party as needed.
I don't really get how these games get compared to Diablo II. If you strip away everything fun and interesting, and retain potion-gulping and inventory management, DS is basically what you get.

They do it cause it sells... Average Joe can pick this up at CompUSA, install on his 3 year old Compaq at home and instantly be ablet to kill endless monsters, while using the manual as a mouse pad.

I been playing the beta for quite a while now, and I must say its much more fun than the first one. DS was ok, i got bored of it like most other people, but so far after 20 or so hours, I'm still enjoying it a great deal.

I don't remember these "fun and interesting" parts you speak of. To me, Diablo 2 wasn't much better or worse than Dungeon Siege.
Anyhow though, I'm quite psyched for this sucker to come out. I'm more excited for the recently announced Rise of Legends, of course, but this will still make it happily into my library.

The innovation is overwhelming senses...
Dungeon Siege also had the liberty of making John Carmack come up with the MONSTER CLOSET design for doom3. Every two feet, enemies out of bushes. From behind and from in front. You see, the AI sets AMBUSHES. Thats AI innovation.
I hated this game as much as I liked it.

doom1 started monster closets. or maybe not started, but definately were the inspiration for doom 3
