Atari is returning to the universe of "The Matrix" with a new game that lets players assume the role of actor Keanu Reeves' lead character Neo and relive his most important and memorable scenarios from the complete film trilogy, including the original film.

Throughout the game, the path the player takes to resolve each scenario and the resulting consequences will be scripted and directed by the Wachowski Brothers. The likenesses of all of the films’ key actors -- including Keanu Reeves ("Neo"), Laurence Fishburne ("Morpheus"), Carrie-Ann Moss ("Trinity), and Hugo Weaving ("Agent Smith") -- will be featured in The Matrix: Path of Neo, which will also include footage from all three feature films, as well as "The Animatrix." Check the first three The Matrix: Path of Neo screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25340) over at WorthPlaying.

Hmmm the second 2 are rendered weird. They look like game quality models rendered for an fmv.
The facial expressions in the first shot could use some work :P

After "Enter the Matrix" why would anyone let Shiny near this franchise again?

Oh, and those screenshots look like ass.

Hey, Atari? Stop. Just... stop. Let it go.

Hooray, now fans of the series can have their expectations dashed all over again. Although to be fair, if anyone has their hopes up over this title, they deserve to have them dashed, smashed and washed ashore on the craggy rocks of disappointment.

There's a matrix film idea brewing inside my head. I see it as being an inheritor of the social theories from the first film, and at the sametime totally different narratively. It's like a live-action episode of animatrix.

This game would be great if they took out the suck of the last one.

Get Remedy to do the game, they got their stuff right

Those screenshots, as far as I'm concerned, look really nice for current generation.

How you guys can claim they look like ass is totally absurd. I guess its a case of hatred causing blindness.

Regardless, the game will probably be rather boring like every game based on a movie.

I was thinking the same thing.

In the Matrix, no one can smell a turd.

Looks just like Enter the Matrix only with way too much bloom. Big effin surprise.

Oh look, it's the game they should've made in the first place, two years too late.

On the one hand, this kind of interests me because unlike Enter The Matrix, you'd be able to actually play through those big set-piece fights from the movies...

On the other hand, if I want to see those set-piece fights, I'll just watch my DVD's. I'd rather have original content set in The Matrix (and done well, unlike Enter The Matrix) than rehashing the movies.

I think people have learned by now that The Matrix franchise is like the Star Wars one. If you try to replicate the movie experience, it tends to turn to complete crap. Try something set in the universe of the movie and it might work out for the better.

Look at the broken pieces of wood (on the floor) in the first screen. They look more akin to graphics on the Atari 2600. The Agent Smiths in the second shot don't look like Agent Smith. The third shot looks fine except for the overuse of bloom.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

I've been reading very, very good things about this title. Was quite shocked to hear the enthusiasm from people that have seen it.

They're enthusiastic because of how bad the first one was.

Those screens look "okay" but they look modified. Not like they're too good, just too good for Shiny or rendered weird. I smell Photoshop!

Either way, if it moves and plays anything like the first one, forget it!

And Spigot, I know you're a SW hater but seriously is ROTS as bad as Enter the Matrix??? No, not even the worst hater can say that!

I actually kind of enjoyed Enter the Matrix for some reason, even though I know it was a kind of lame game...
And I still think these graphics look like turd. The texture resolution is absolutely horrible.

I have a feeling your lack of sight has something to do with the fact that you are riddled with an illness called consolitis. Or possible another one that is known as "Matrix Groupieitis".

Thenetcase, if you had bothered to read my entire post, instead of just the center sentence, you might be in a better situation.

I said quite clearly that they looked good for the current generation -- which means I was comparing it to anything else on the PS2/Xbox/GC currently out.

I also mentioned that the game would probably be boring -- I have never played a matrix game, and I don't plan on starting, they all seemed like junk to me.

Not only do my eyes work quite well, I can read too.

Perhaps I was a tad harsh. But the subject I was disagreeing with was not your other views at all. It was the fact that you seemed to imply that the graphics were quite good (given the current generation, blah blah). THEY AREN'T quite good for the current generation and that's where I'm disagreeing with you.

SO yeah, I read your whole post and that's the way it still stands. So sue me. :)

And Spigot, I know you're a SW hater but seriously is ROTS as bad as Enter the Matrix??? No, not even the worst hater can say that!

Why do you think that just because I liked that review of ROTS on IGN that I hate Star Wars? You're talking to someone who has had his tickets for the midnight show of Ep 3 for the last two weeks! I've read almost all of the expanded universe novels and graphic novels! What do I need to do to prove my love of Star Wars to you?

I just think that in general games that try to be a strict retelling of the movie they're based on tend to flop. Sometimes it's a technical issue. Sometimes it's just that the story they try to tell doesn't translate well to the medium of the videogame.

I am still planning on trying out the Ep 3 game, horrible review on IGN and all. I'm also going to try the Lego Star Wars game. I can see how the things that the guy on IGN complains about could be really annoying, depending on if they're actually as bad as he says. I did play through the Ep 1 game and it was really bad, so while this one does LOOK better, I'm still leery of if it will PLAY better. I'm just not going to even play the game till after I see the movie. I'll reserve my final opinion till then.

I also think that telling a story set in a given movie universe can ultimately be more interesting than just retelling the plot of the movie with fancy action sequences that you play through.

I loved Republic Commando because I got to play as a group that you really can't empathize with (the clone troopers) and got to see snippets of things to come in Ep. 3 without ruining anything. I know that when I see Greivous' bodyguards in the movie I'll have the knowledge of their sheer ass-kickingness based on my troubles fighting them in Republic Commando. The X-Wing and Tie Fighter games let you experience the space battles and expanded my appreciation of how the Rebel and Imperial fleets fought.

The KoToR games established a lot of the history of the SW universe.

Don't think that just because someone doesn't happen to like the game based on a movie that they don't like the movie itself. I just don't go into things with rose-coloured glasses on just because I happened to like the movie. I hope that the game rocks as much as you say it does and doesn't suck as much as IGN guy says it does. It was a funny review though...

I'll let you know whether it sucked as much as EtM. I actually enjoyed EtM the first play through. I hated it after that. Once I beat it and the novelty wore off, I could see it for the steaming turd of a game that it was.
