Today's Ourcolony (http://www.ourcolony.net) challenge revealed real art (http://www.ourcolony.net/images/logos/L2893749823.jpg) from Perfect Dark Zero. This basically confirms what was already know, Perfect Dark Zero will be an Xbox 360 Launch title.

Nice job, bapenguin!
wow a girl with a gun. I for one am not incredibly excited about this game. The average Rare game takes 3 and 1/2 years to get released and the xbox 360 dev kits have been out for how long? For this to be a release title I'd have to assume they're just porting the code from from the xbox/gamecube version and updating the graphics. Not the revolutionary type of game that consoles need at launch.

Nice assumptions based on all the info you have aquired. Rare has never promised us anything. Every whiney little boy and girl just assumed they should get all these neat gifts from Rare ASAP. 'reality check'
I am so effin excited about this game, that, in the words of Harry Knowles through Penny Arcade, my excitement started "to pour in like whale cum".

I kinda doubt there ever was an Xbox version; I suspect this became a 360 title soon after MS bought them out. And even without the dev kits (and keep in mind that Rare probably got the dev kits pretty early on, being a first-party developer) there's still a lot of work they could've done in the interim.

Well, maybe Rare didn't, but the official announcement (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2002/sep02/09-24ProjectRPR.asp) at the time of the buyout said five games within the next two years. I guess that was technically correct, they just didn't mention that they would be GBA games.

if76, you don't know anything about this game. Why not wait until Thursday when you won't sound like such a jackass?

I think you missed the point of my post. I'm not complaining that the game will take too long to develop. I'm simply mentioning that if this is to be a launch title, then Rare will be forced to compromise their protracted dev cycle. Thus I think that either the quality might suffer or they'll just reuse the parts they've been working on since the game was originally anounced for the cube.

I don't know, I thought the cartoon version was pretty cool, but this looks great. Looks like some occult/religious symbols behind her. Wonder what that's about?

Did you ever play Perfect Dark? "a girl with a gun" indeed.

Unfortunately, I would hazard a guess that the average Xbox user that owns Halo 2, would see a Woman blasting bad guys and pass the game off as "teh gay" regardless of it's quality.
I really don't know how well it will turn out, both the director of Goldeneye and the original Perfect Dark left to form Zoonami, and half of the staff from those games are now located at Free Radical. Who's picking up the slack at rare now? The Killer Instinct and Banjo Kazooie staffers?

The idea being "OurColony is to build hype for X360. It would make sense for it to allude to launch titles moreso than titles available down the road for the Box."

I can see it now.
Fulgore makes a guest appearance as Joanna Dark's lovable sidekick, riding on her back while Joanna solves puzzles to collect all 200 coins to unlock super happy land.

Wow, I had almost completely forgot about Perfect Dark and even Rare for that matter. Here's hoping that MS manages to leverage more of Rare's franchises in the next console generation than they did in this one. And on the topic of girls with guns.....where's my Startcraft Ghost Blizzard?

Because it's obviously Joanna Dark in the picture. Compare the new picture to the old concept art (http://www.gamespot.com/x360/action/perfectdarkzero/screenindex.html) and it's pretty clear it's the same character, just with a more realistic design.

I am so effin excited about this game, that, in the words of Harry Knowles through Penny Arcade, my excitement started "to pour in like whale cum".You'll see this on the back of the game box:
"It's like having boiling hot joy pumped into your rectum!" - Penny Arcade
Or: "You will bleed to death!"

I cannot decide if I am excited about this or not. I love the original perfect dark, think it is one of the best games released for the N64. I really liked Rare's work back in the day, the SNES and N64 games they worked on were almost always grade A. Yet, the only real examples they have shown us of what they are capable this generation were fairly sub-par. Plus, I always have to remind myself that the team that is working on this Perfect Dark is not the same team that made the original. The memories and the name make me extremely excited, but the possible reality makes me very apprehensive about letting the excitement take root.

That could only be released on a Nintendo console.

Actually, Rare owns KI, along with pretty much every other original franchise they've ever developed (source (http://www.rareware.com/extra/scribes/10jan03/index.html)).

No no. My point was that if it involves Super Happy Land and collecting Coins™, it's gotta be on a Nintendo system.

Well that's a relief. Free Radical's games have sucked shit, so I guess they took all the dipshits.

...it's a feckin art piece, maybe some cover or manual art. Am i going to get all horny over this? No. I guess I'd like to see the game in motion or some screenshots. Artwork might be enough to get some off, but not me.
I see a bunch of people caught up in a web of hype already. I'm being cynical because I'm a pessimist...but i hope the hype is worth it. I really do...
