Silent Bomber! Damn, that was a great game nobody seemed to have played. Very nice list so far, I'm likeing the variety they're throwing in there.

I really like Lemmings 2. I loved the tribal back story to it.

Those are some gems right there. I'm not into XBLA, but buying PS1 games I never got to play or no longer own, and Nintendo games I haven't played for over a decade? I'm almost already sold, especially if the PS1 games turn out to be cheap.

Jumping Flash, Resident Evil and Arc the Lad. Jeez, that's a whole lotta memories right there.

Resident Evil Directors Cut! I lost my old copy, and I never owned a Gamecube, so I'll definately think about snapping that up!

Like Wii with the new Zelda as a launch title - I get a Wii to play a Gamecube game - LOL

Strange. Retro XBLA, Retro Virtual Console and Retro PS1 games don't do anything for me. Aside from a VERY small collection of old games, there isn't much that I see paying $5-$10 for. I've found that nostalgia, for the most part, is better than reliving the experience.

Having said that, I will buy the SNES Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Eventually this will kill the "rare collectible" PS1 games on ebay. Which is good.

I agree to a certian extent. On the other hand, retro Nintendo games are always fun, they're timeless. With the PSOne games, there were so many released, there's a lot of classics many people didn't get the chance to play. That's one disadvantage that MS has, they don't have a classic library of any kind to draw from.

No it won't. There will still be many people that want that original case, manual, disc, etc... for many of the rarer games. It's part of being a collector.

Well, I will agree that 2D games age better than 3D games. Old SNES and Genesis games still look great while old PS1 games look like ass these days.

I'd be all over any service that let me download Saturn and Dreamcast games though. Saturn had a few hidden gems that most people didn't have a chance to play and Dreamcast was chock-full of original and fun titles.

Outside of a small handful of games though, if I want it, I've already got it.

Even Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun.

this game is pure awesomeness. That said, it's sitting on my shelf so no need to d/l it :D However, I hope some new people can experience it and have the fun I did way back when.

I'd probably buy Arc the Lad and flow. I love Lemmings 2 (still have it on a DOSbox) but I hate playing those games through controllers.

Whats sadder for MS, is that even NEXT gen X-box wont even have "classic" games available for download unless they give us a nice big HD to download them too, at least PS1 games came on 700MB CD's and you could fit a nice collection on your HD. Heck i could fit every single classic NEs game on my PSP

I enjoyed Halo but, but even 5 year from now i doubt i would label it a classic. Let me not speak too soon, who knows how i might feel 5-6 years from now. but I love XBLA making Sony/Nintendo's back cataloge is a big selling point for me

Didn't Sony say a couple weeks ago that they were refusing to put any retro games up for download?

You know, I think you are right. They were basically saying that the download service would be for new games only.

Then again, Sony also said that the PSP would not receive any ports either, that it was going to be filled with completely new games.

Yeah.

I hope the MSX collections make their way to the west, though there might problems since I doubt all the games have been translated before. Question: Did these MSX-collections get released in the US? Because I cannot remember seeing them in EU.

I don't think so. It was a developer that said Sony was pushing for more high quality and original games, not neccessarily saying no retro games.

Edit: I found the article here (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20453) with it discussed here (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19400&highlight=retro).
Here's the line in question from Blitz Arcade(Burger King games).
"It's a very similar system but Sony is going to put much bigger memory limits and footprints on its downloads. It is not going to go the retro route - in fact Sony says it wants its games to be around the same price, but to be higher quality," he revealed.

Jumping Flash!! Great memories there, but $600+ is a little too much for that :) Now getting a new PS2 (mine died) and tracking down a copy.....I have to make a note.
