ArenaNet has proven with the first two Guild Wars games that their formula of creating an MMO like game without a MMO monthly fee is very appealing. On the eve of the release of Guild Wars Nightfall on Friday, FiringSquad got a chance to do a last minute interview with Gaile Gray (http://firingsquad.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid=12908), the community relations manager for ArenaNet as she revealed more info on the third full game in their best selling multiplayer action-RPG series. Here is a snip:
FiringSquad: What are some of the team's favorite new monsters in Guild Wars Nightfall?
Gaile Gray: I am sort of fond of the lunatic plants that are running around Elona, like the Iboga and the Jacaranda. I mean, imagine being attacked by the flailing braches of an enormous bush… and dying! ;) I have to say I really like the Harpies, too—they’re classic. One of my team members chose the Margonites as his favorites, and a few members of the Art Team I polled in passing cited the Rain and Rock Beetles, the Rinkhal Monitor, and the Junundu amongst their favorites.

Heroes seem interesting, but personally I'd love if this new uber component came to the original Guild Wars and Factions to actually make the game solo playable. I'd expect if you have Nightfall your heros can go back, but I'd hate to buy another expansion to finish the original game. Oh well, maybe eventually.
Personally I think a 1 year timespan on these things would have been much better, or at least half the price. Heck, drop the price on the previous update or something, otherwise I just have a hard time imaging people keeping up.
I'm also going to take a much closer look at the art this time. In GW, your characters actually looked as good as the box art from the get-go. In Factions, my assassin was far, far more bland in generic Spandex than the box art character.

Cant wait! Ordered this one at GoGamer for 40 bucks.
As far as dropping the price on older expansions, I dont think its ever going to happen... Some stores seem to have sales now and then and drop the price a bit, but ArenaNet looks at each expansion as equals and knows that each of the expansions adds alot of content and pvp options. They know new people will go back and buy the old ones. Considering how they dont charge any monthly fee, this is the only way they can make money.
But who knows... Anything is possible...

Though considering this topic has 3 replies and below 100 views on a high traffic, high community site like EA, I have to question the viability of that. ANet may see each expansion as equals, but I don't really think that flies with most gamers. Though, that's just me.
I may in fact be playing it some day, I'm just not the biggest fan of their business model. I think it could be optimized a bit more to provide more incentive. But I will agree, if GW had a fee I wouldn't be playing at all.

Today right when Nightfall came on the online store, they dropped the price of Factions by 10 bucks. I have Nightfall paid for and downloaded, just waiting for the time to come around when it is activated.
