GameTap (http://www.gametap.com/) sends along a Press Release announcing some new Halloween themed content including Silent Hill 2 and Castlevania.

Broadband entertainment just got eerie! This Halloween, Turner Broadcasting’s GameTap gets into the spirit of the holiday by featuring a number of the greatest fright night franchises ever, including “Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams” and the “Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra,” alongside an all-new episode of Hyper 5.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams: As part of this decade’s most indelible survival horror series, “Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams” contains all of the content of the original console version of “Silent Hill 2,” but with the PC extras. This includes the "Born from a Wish" scenario where players take control of Maria prior to her first appearance in the main game. Also included is a sixth ending to the main scenario and a minor feature that allows you to switch to a different film stock presentation.

Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra: If “Silent Hill” is too mature for your taste, check out this E-rated PC collection of the first three “Castlevania” titles along with two “Contra” classics (“Contra” and “Super C”). These “Castlevania” vampire-slayer classics are filled with icons from horror literature and legends, such as Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, Medusa, and the Grim Reaper. Speaking of the Grim Reaper, tune into GameTap TV to check out the following brand new episode of Hyper 5…

Hyper 5 - Custom Tailored Grim Reapers: This episode of GameTap TV’s countdown show highlights the top 5 video game characters that rely on their special suits or outfits to accomplish tasks. They are stylin' and profilin', deadly dangerous, and most importantly – they look GOOD.

Additional Games: Also joining the network on Halloween is “Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Gold” (which includes the “Desert Siege” and “Island Thunder” expansions) and “Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire,” a timely Arcade classic from Capcom.Be sure to check out bapenguin's GameTap Review (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19775) for more information on the service.

The title had me thinking I could get Gothic 3 on gametap, without waiting for the US version, or importing it.

Boo.

Are we going to be seeing more gametap "news" now? 'Cause personally, I couldn't care less.

Yea or at least the first two (not that that would be anything great), but the title did perhaps imply as much to me as well. :D

Do they have the first and third Silent Hill games? Because if they do, it may be worth $10 just so I can play through those once.

I am going to jump in on the whole gametap thing now. It is only 5 bucks a month. I am sure I can get 5 bucks a month worth of games to play. This is a heck of a lot cheaper than what these would cost us from XBLA or the Nintendo VC.

As far as Sam and Max go, I will still be picking that up separately.

Actually I got a 3 month thing for free, that was it. But now we are on their press list.

It's really not worth it. For $10 a month you should just get nice, easy access to these games. Instead what you get is a bloated, 3D, in-your-face menu with streaming advertisements that you can't shut off. It's nice to have access to so many games, but after awhile the bullshit starts to get to you. That and the mysteriously vanishing hard drive space (it wasn't the games folder).

I've been on their Press List for a long time and I don't usually post their news updates, but they asked really nice. :)

Silent Hill 2 is a superb survival horror game, of which its greatest strengths lie within the overall story, the music, as well as the twisted creatures and environments. The overall game mechanics are similar to Resident Evil if you've played any of those games before.
