GoneGold Not Quite Gone

A few days ago there was a news post (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1931) on here about a GoneGold.com "replacement." The post didn't make too much sense, because for the most part, GoneGold is still around. ConsoleGold (http://www.consolegold.com/) is the spiritual successor to GoneGold, and despite its name, they do list PC releases. (http://www.consolegold.com/Releasedates/)

Well, no one seems to be too interested, but I'd have to say the site is well done. May looks like a fairly uneventfull month for the PC.

GG had stopped being an info source for games for nearly a year before it finally went down for good. I know Rich had some MAJOR Health issues and was doing his best to keep it alive. It would be nice if someone could just throw up a downloadable excel file with updates. Seems like a simple enough job. We miss you Rich hope you are well.

I would have loved his review of SWAT4.

Yeah, unfortunately no one really knows what happened to Rich. One day in October last year, GG just fell off the internet. The speculation is far and wide obviously by those that used to frequent GG. I know I miss Rich's Roll Calls and all that, I'm just happy to be keeping at least one section of GG alive before the flame went out.

Wasn't Rich an ex-cop who was injuried/shot? I remember seeing him on a wheel chair at E3, at least I was told it was him.

I miss GoneGold because the community there was not full of 14 year old leet kids. The people participating in the forums were all ages, many with families, kids, every day jobs and very realistic game impressions. ConsoleGold has some of them, but it's a slow moving forum with little activity.

Yep, he was an ex-cop that was shot and injured. There is another forum with old GG people (the mods from GG started it up). It's called Octopus Overlords (the url is exactly that .com and without the space), but so far they are only a forum...but you may find people you knew at GG there if you don't find them on our forum. We generally share users, but many pick one or the other.

Gone Gold was nice because Rich and friends were there, which lives on in a way at Console Gold. That other post I thought was very distasteful. Rich is a super cool guy and no one can ever really replace what he does.
