Got a small montage of XBox 360 info this morning. With the impending MTV special this Thursday night, more and more details are leaking out. The first is the official logo (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8189/Xbox-360-Logo-Revealed-at-MTV-Show-Taping/) has been seen from press photos at the MTV event.
OurColony (http://www.ourcolony.net) has revealed what looks like skins (http://www.ourcolony.net/images/logos/37943.jpg) for the new console.
Finally, Major Nelson (http://www.majornelson.com/wp/index.php) has some impressions and a blogcast from the MTV Green Carpet event which taped over the weekend.

Dammit, it almost feels like the week before Christmas to me. I keep getting glimpses of the wrapping paper, but I won't know what the presents are until Thursday.

What moron made the decision to ditch the cool green jewel logo and the squared Xbox font? Seriously... way to throw away cool branding.

Does it bother anyone else that this new logo doesn't really indicate that it's for a brand new console? I mean, it's different but it still says "xbox" and not "xbox 360." When the PS2 came out, it was a similar logo but it let you know it was a new device.
Maybe I'm just nit-picking.

I don't think you're nit-picking. That was the first thing that I thought of too. It doesn't seem different enough to stand out as being a different product. I think that'll just lead to more customer confusion.
Then again, maybe this is just a remake of the Xbox brand and not indicative of the Xbox 360's own logo. The Playstation brand's logo hasn't changed, it's just that the PS2 has a logo of its own. The intertwined P and S on the front of the PS2 are the same logo from the old Playstation.

Its the Xbox logo on a sphere.. which is sorta related to 360 (degrees) but in its 3D glory. Whatever logic is behind it, it still beats that apple Cherio logo.
