Operation Flashpoint FDF

Remember the game Operation Flashpoint? Those who played it would never forget. The environment was a huge war simulator, offering endless possibilities. I recently revisited my dusty Flashpoint Expansion CDs looking for some new player created coop missions and came across this very interesting full conversion.

If you are patiently waiting for Operation Flashpoint 2 as I am, this may satisfy some of the nostalgic cravings for the time being.

Awesome! I still have fantastic memories of OFP...

Sniping the pilot of a helicopter, then watching it fall out of control behind a hill, followed by the sound of a crash and explosion.

One man with 3 RPGs and a shitload of landmines taking out a convoy of tanks.

Travelling across the island during the Special Forces mission... by stealing a civilian car and telling your AI buddy to drive. Road trip!!

A prediction for OFP2:
12 people will play it.
12 people will swear its the best damn game ever.
Everyone else won't give a damn.

Thats alos OFP in a nutshell. Admittedly I played the demo and it had some cool concepts, but getting shot in the leg 1/2 through a mission and then being at 1/3 your speed the rest of the time doesn't fall under my list of things that are "fun."

Flashpoint was and is one of the best Military sims of all time. People who didn't play it, or people who played the demo and didn't bother to climb its moderate learning curve, have no idea what they are missing. It's a crying shame - for them.

As for this expansion: The Finnish army? Isn't that like the army of New Guinea? or how about the mighty Icelandic army? LOL! I prefer my enemies to be shivering with fear, not cold.

OFP was my favorite game. Especially the last mission. When your searching for the general in a jeep while flying a chopper. Landing in front of him to make him stop. The graphics, the weapons, vehicles. LOVED IT.

Ha that last mission was funny. I got the general to get in the chopper as the gunner and blow up his own tanks :D

I've played this mod before. Its very good, But I got stuck on a mission where I had to blow up a bridge. And blowing up the bridge didnt end the mission...:(

I love the hell out of opf, but every time I try to pick it up and play it again I hit another fucking bug. Hell, resistance has a showstoper that has caught me 3 times.

This is exactly what I thought before I played the mod. Finland was right next to the Soviet Union, and if they made a move on western europe, Finland would be one of the first invaded. Play the mod. The FDF has some very nice toys.

Also, I think Russia and Finland have had conflicts in the past. If I'm not mistaken, St. Petersburg was taken from the Finish in a nasty war. Though there was no city at the time, just a port, which was the whole reason for the invasion.
