Computer And Video Games (http://www.computerandvideogames.com) has an interview (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php(que)id=118143) with John Romero up. Romero talks about Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (PS2/Xbox) including the online and co-op play.
Are you attracted to one next-gen console in particular? Which one and why?

John Romero: Not yet. With the current gen, I'm an Xbox guy and thanks to Resident Evil 4, I'm really liking my GameCube. But really, it doesn't matter to me which next-gen console is better because I'm going to have them all and buy games on them all. Whichever one turns out to be the best is the one I'll buy most of the games for. Right now, if a game is on the PS2 and Xbox, I'll get the Xbox version. If it's an FPS like Ghost Recon 2, I'll wait for the PC version and ignore the console versions.
You can start on the "John Romero will make you..." jokes now.

Well, I am hoping Gauntlet will be good, so I can do co-op.

I would also think tings would be nice if we all stoped getting on Romero's ass about Daitinka, it was a disapointing game that was years behind the curve and cost too much money.

If it's an FPS like Ghost Recon 2,
GR2 is 3rd person.

Actually it's both, you can toggle between the two.

But it would have been better on PC.

It's nice that even though he's developing for PS2 he's being honest instead of political. Of course the xbox version will be better and I'm glad he's admitting this.

Huh. So I guess he's not buying it...

I think Tom Hall is also at Midway. Working on NARC and Area 51, if I remember correctly.

True enough. But I can't stay mad at the man I learned how to rocket jump from. Plus, his ego is pure entertainment for the whole industry.
