Toys R Us (http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255974) is doing their annual buy 2 get 1 free deal. The offer is available either online or in their stores. Buy any 2 video games and get another (of equal or lesser value) one free. Sale ends Saturday.
I look forward to this sale every year. Bully, Okami, & Baten Kaitos Origins, here I come!!!! Probably Metroid Prime Hunters, God Hand, & Animal Crossing Wild World too. Or maybe Odama, Lego Star Wars 2, & Steamboat Chronicles?

That would be SteamBOT Chronicles.
Although, I must say, I find the idea of a Steamboating game interesting.
Time to get a DS... what games would you guys recommend, I plan on getting Mario Kart already

Hmmm. I don't have a store around here, and it sounds like not all the games are discounted while online. Meh, nothing I really had to have anyway... I'm saving up for The Console Formerly Known as the Revolution.

This deal sounds too good to be true. Guitar Hero is part of the Buy 2 - Get 1 Free deal. So if I buy two other games for $19.99, do I get the $70 Guitar Hero package free?

Dead Rising

Silly rabbit, the cheapest game is always the one you get free!
EDIT: Hey Heresyte, how about you not respond so fast? :D

I can't seem to find Bully for PS2 on the Toys'R'Us us site? Is this not one of the included games?
*sigh* It's the only reason I was going to break out my PS2 from the closet!

Atorak...I am pretty sure it's ALL games (that's what the site says). Only some of them show up when you click the sale banner though, and some you can't find, so I dunno.
I had the same problems as you, I'd like to pick up Tales of the Abyss and Bully and who knows what else, but couldn't find them on the site. Looks like a trip to the store is in my immediate future. And yeah...I think it's time for me to stop posting in this thread.

New Super Mario Bros. I really enjoyed both Meteos and Tetris DS for puzzlers. I played the heck out of Animal Crossing, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Metroid Prime Hunters got great reviews, and most people seemed to like it, but it didn't do much for me. I do plan on going back to it one day. Kirby's Canvas Curse is awesome. I've played demos of Clubhouse games and I thought it was really fun as well. Apparently I'm the only person on Earth who really likes Deep Labyrinth, but I think it's a fun little dungeon crawler.

No, I would be in for a treat... except they won't let me buy it <.< I was gonna get it, and Steambot Chronicles, and find another $20 game to go along with it... But it seems like most of the $20 games I want, aren't "available online."

The deal is fine, try reading it.
"of equal or lesser value."
...which holds true for just about every two for one deal you'll find, at least in terms of things you want.

The deal is fine until you realize that the game collection largely sucks in the online offer and the prices are usually $10 higher than other places anyway.

Just got back from Toys R Us. This deal is good for every single video game in the store. I picked up Steambot Chronicles & Okami and got Baten Kaitos Origins free. Too bad they were out of Bully & God hand. Guess I'll go back later in the week.

Hmmm, I hadn't even heard of Steambot Chronicles until I looked at this thread (at first I was like, "A game about steamboats??? WTF?") and now I've read some reviews and am very interested. I think I've found my third game to go along with Bully and Tales of the Abyss! Thanks, EvAv community! :D

I <3 Shadow of the Colossus. I'm planning video gaming related tattoo(s) and I'm getting closer and closer to having it just be Colossi from SotC. That would be cool. I'm having a hard time picking out my favorites...
I kinda wanted to put the last one on just because it had the most sense of accomplishment when you figure out how the hell to beat it... I can't count the number of times I died leaping where you shouldn't be able to leap (at least, it seemed like I was doing things you shouldn't be able to do... I get this feeling a lot in many video games... I seem to find bugs that no one else can...).
You have to play it. Even if they don't have it online, find your nearest Toys R Us.
If you've played Ico, you're really gonna get into it. Either way, it's still hard not to be enthralled by its world.
I <3 Shadow of the Colossus. :D

The customer service representative responded: "Upon reviewing the offer, this particular promotion is only for selected video games."
I'm going to check out my real live toys r us store tomorrow to see if they have anything good there, since the website is run by idiots.
You could've gave them a little more information than "it's not working."
They probably just wanted some, say, context and probably some clarification.
Don't be so hard on them...
Oh, and it seems that on the website the offer IS only for selected games.

My nearest Toys 'R' Us is such a long drive away, that even if I bought two $50 games and got another one for free, I would still go in the hole and lose all benefit from the deal just from the gas money.

Steambot is a fairly interesting, fun game, IMHO. It's a little like JRPG meets GTA, with some simplified mech combat thrown in for good measure.

I've really been wanting to play it, personally. I just sort of forgot about it for a while. I think I might try to pick it up this week, maybe... Then again, NWN2 is like, right around the corner. Then after that, there is the Wii... and GoW... and whatever other great game wants to come kick my poor ass in the teeth.

I picked up SotC and DMC3, and played straight through SotC. Great game, especially if you liked Ico. Don't worry about the TRU sale, it's definitely worth $20 and even more definitely worth $15.

Oh, I hear that. My wallet is not going to be a happy camper by the end of this year.
With that in mind, I will add a caveat to my previous notes about Steambot that, as interesting as I found it, I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it. There are some parts of the game that feel a bit shallow. Also, the music, which is a somewhat integral part of the game, varies from the "ok", to the truly awful. I love I-Rem as a developer, but their production values tend to fall on the light side. I hear they are doing a sequel, however, so perhaps that'll have a bit more "meat" to it.
I bought it early on, because Atlus was the US distributor, and they have a tendency to do very small print runs for some reason (see: Disgaea), so I figured it would be hard to find later, but clearly I screwed that up :-)

I originally heard about it because I was trying to get some Riviera wallpapers from Atlus' site :p I had been worried it would sell out quickly, but ya, it seems we were wrong on that one. I doubt the price will drop though, Atlus games tend to stay expensive.

I don't think TRU will be getting Bully.
It is a good way to pick up Valkarie Profile 2 and a couple other games.
I am doing Splinter Cell, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and possibly Gears of War if I talk right.
**edit**
It was also hellish working there and dealing with people who can't find their game... because they didn't fucking look. Jesus fucking christ, I am not being paid to hold your games and get them off the shelf for you dumbass.
on the bright side... Some kid is getting Okami for Christmas.

Hold Strong my friend.
The only thing stopping me is I have ocarina of time, starcraft, and Half Life 2 (and Episode 1) to hold me over to the Christmas morning bounty. I'm sure I'll buy SotC to before Christmas comes
What I REALLY want to do with this deal is get Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and maybe Prime 2/The Twin Snakes in preparation for the Wii (I didn't own a gamecube...or a 64 for that matter, which is why I'm borrowing a friends system and ANOTHER friends OoT to play it...)

Bullshit. I clearly stated that if Baten Kaitos was one of the three games you purchased, you didn't get a free game, despite the fact that the banner says "ALL Video Games", and despite the fact that Baten Kaitos is one of the games that comes up when you click on the banner.
Touché.

Good deal, too bad I have to buy all my games the week they come out :( Me and my lack of patience.
Just do what I've done in the past and take advantage of their exchange policy. Buy 3 games that are the same prices as the ones you want later, don't open them and exchange them.
Back when they first started this offer, the same thing happened and during the offer, there was nothing I wanted. I purchased 3 games (can't remember what they were), and slowly over time exchanged them all for the following: Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack, Splinter Cell 1, and Rainbox Six 3. Note these were all unreleased games at the time of the offer.
So i managed to get 4 games out of the deal technically :)

I guess if I can't do it this time around, I can always return the items for a full refund, as long as I do it within 30 days.
Why, have you heard something? Please tell if you have.
