IGN's review (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/610/610501p1.html) gives Episode III only 4.5 out of 10, which is ballsy by itself. The review is unflattering as Hell, but good writing. As much flack as IGN deservedly takes, the reviewer should get some credit for this one.

EDIT: The word "(Xbox") added due to Mulholland Drive-level confusion (see posts below).

EDIT 2: (a) I don't know that I can change the heading on the main page, since it's moderated, but if you were thinking IGN reviewed the film, see below. (b) The Xbox and PS2 reviews are identical; the only difference is the Xbox page has green background colors while the PS2 page has blue.

You might want to mention that you're talking about the GAME. I thought they had the balls to give the MOVIE a 4.5 until I clicked the link.

I've played the game and it sucks. I deserves that score. I'm sure the movie won't be bad though.

Yeah I thought this was for the movie too. Change this.

I too was deceived. Given that movie-related stuff is frequently posted on this site, this headline will probably confuse everyone who reads it.

Initially I thought you were refering to the movie as well. A new title is probably in order. The game does look like total balls. I am glad to see IGN actually give a bad review of a game. Maybe somewhere down the line they will stop handing out 9.8, 9.9 to so many merely average titles.

I also thought it was for the movie, which gave me quite a shock, especially considering it's 83% ratio (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_3/) on RT, and IGN's usual score over-inflation.

I thought this was for the movie also, PLEASE EDIT THIS!

ive played through the game, and honestly its just an average action game, fairly short, but with enough unlockables and bonus missions, and surprisingly fun co-op and versus 2player, with the very cool star wards content that id say it derves quite abit higher, at least a 6/10. IMO of course.

IGN are full of SHIT. It does in NO WAY deserve that score!

It's a complete vendetta against Star Wars and more than likely against the developers themselves.

Journalistic integrity? Ballsy?

I say bullshit!

I've played the game and it's WAY BETTER than ROTK, which they gave an 8 to.

IGN are complete assclowns and this just proves it.

That is one funny review. I'd actually thought that they'd done a decent job of the game, given the rather spiffy looking trailers. I should have learned by now that official Star Wars (prequel) movie tie-in games are NEVER good (at least not the ones that purport to telling the story of the movie).

Loved some of the lines in the review though.

"The result is a series of carefully animated and motion captured maneuvers that look great individually, but play together with slightly more finesse than the average hobbit being violently kicked out of a jet fighter by a shrieking yeti."

Hee hee.

I'm still going to rent this AFTER I see the movie, but I'll probably hold off on purchasing it anytime soon.

I reviewed it yesterday and I don't think the games very good even though I love star wars. Here's the link if you want it. http://www.activewin.com/reviews/xbox/software/200 5/revenge_of_the_sith/index.shtml

Substill: On the front page, the title for this news piece still doesn't have "(Xbox)" after it. You only see that addition when you enter the thread. That'd be why so many people think it's for the movie. Also, why'd you put "Xbox" when you're linking to a PS2 review?

I completely agree with this review based on my own experiences with this game.

I rented SW:ROTS Friday night and played through the first eight levels:

80% of the game thus far was ridiculously easy hacking and opening doors/ray shields. Ultra-repetitive gameplay.

20% of the game was boss battles of such a frustrating nature that you will be compelled to curse when hearing utterances of this game for days to come.

Trust me, IGN hit the nail on the head with this one. If you don't believe me then experience the suffering for yourself.

I also thought it was for the movie, which gave me quite a shock, especially considering it's 83% ratio (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_3/) on RT... Yup, the reviews are mostly positive. However, I think this one sums it up best:

"For every thrilling space battle or lightsaber dual you get, you get two scenes with embarrassingly bad dialogue and line delivery."

It didn't change the title on the main page, and since you didn't actually clarify things in the description itself (Episode III = movie), it will still fool people.

Try again. Change "Episode III" to "Revenge of the Sith (XBox)" in the main text.

Or, like I said before, change it to "Revenge of the Sith (PS2)", since that's what it links to.

edit:
The Xbox and PS2 reviews are identical; the only difference is the Xbox page has green background colors while the PS2 page has blue.

I appreciate the clarifications in edit 2, but it still links to the PS2 site. I couldn't find the Xbox review at the time. It's still not linked to on the Xbox version's page (http://xbox.ign.com/objects/678/678084.html#revie ws). So in summary, we must blame IGN for any and all confusion.

Rone:

On the main xbox.ign.com page, the review is the one with the picture of Anakin Skywalker and the title Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. But again, there's no difference, so you're not missing out on anything. If you read the article, it even references both the triangle button and the Y button so they wouldn't have to edit that much.

While well written, the ultra-low review does make me wonder if you can say that a review is just plain wrong. And I don't mean factually wrong. The IGN review, 45 percent, is totally off from the rest of the reviews of this game.

I had a chat about it with the Video Games Ombudsman, which I posted on RedAssedBaboon, but I'm curious what everyone else things. Can a review be wrong?

512 megs of ram!!! Thank God they went with that. This system is looking well rounded and powerful. Even if the PS3 ends up being twice as fast, 360 will be worth buying on launch day.
