Gamegossip (http://www.gamegossip.com/) is reporting (http://www.gamegossip.com/pressrelease.php?id=131 66) that 2K Sports will be releasing Top Spin, previously exclusive for the Xbox, for the PlayStation 2 this summer. The PS2 version of Top Spin will feature 16 professional players, including Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Venus Williams and Carlos Moya, as players work their way through tennis careers.
I was never a big tennis fan, but after renting the title I was hooked.

My all time favorite is Virtua Tennis.

Never more so than with this title did it really hit home just how pointless many electronic sports games are. Especially tennis. This is just like 3d pong with a few more buttons. and when is say a few more im taking like, 2 or so. you serve the ball, you volley the ball you lob the ball. wash, rinse, repeat, again and again and again. and it only gets worse when you're into the later tournaments where pulling off the same move over and over again DOES NOT infact fool the ai. who you have to beat like 25 times each or something. the unlockables are nice for dressing up your character but quite frankly I'd much rather play REAL tennis than this.

I would also rather play real tennis, but do love a game of multiplayer virtua tennis. Single player tennis games do suck though.

I hope somewhere down the line it makes its way to the PSP.
I would buy a good PSP tennis game, if only for the multiplayer, I love multiplayer tennis.

I played this on Xbox in a demo booth and was really impressed. It played a lot like Virtua Tennis which was A-mazing for 2 on 2. I'm not a big tennis fan, but you know when a game is done well when even non-fans can pick it up and enjoy the hell out of it.
I didn't get to play the single player much (I was only on it for 15 minutes) but I gathered the point was that the single player mode allows you to understand the workings and the controls and build on different kinds of attack/defence to warm you up for the multiplayer where the core of the game lies.
