For any PC/360 Oblivion owners who were fuming about the apparently exclusive PS3 content, IGN brings some hearting news from Bethesda's Todd Howard (Oblivion’s Executive Producer).
IGN: Will the Knights of the Nine quests eventually become available for X360 and PC players of Oblivion, or are they exclusively PS3's?
Howard: We always aim to have all our content available across all platforms, so that is our goal.
The interview is a mixed blessing for PS3 owners, as it seems that while they may have a technology-improved version:
The PS3 is benefiting from us continuing to develop our core technology that drives all our Elder Scrolls games. Some of that is noticeable on the screen -- like all the new graphic shaders -- and some isn't.
....
You no longer have a harsh line cutting across the two levels, they blend together seamlessly and the distant detail and land looks much nicer.
But it is missing the 360 downloadable contact, and may not get any of it’s own:
IGN: Are all of the add-ons going to ship with it or will they still be extra?
Howard: The downloadable content is actually designed to work with a game that is in-progress and doesn't work as well with a new game. So instead we focused on Knights of the Nine as the new stuff to add to Oblivion that would work well no matter where you are in the game. Downloadable content is something we'd like to support on PS3, but right now that's really in Sony's hands.
IGN: Has Sony been able to provide you with enough information so that downloadable content for Oblivion will be available for the PS3 version somewhere down the line?
Howard: How Sony will handle this is still a little fuzzy to us, but it is our intention to make that content available for PS3 as soon as we're able.
