The critically acclaimed Psychonauts is now ready for digestion via digital download service Steam, reports Gamespot via Gametab (http://www.gametab.com/news/708113/)

If you haven't played Psychonauts, here's your chance! Now GIT!

Oh snap!

It's a great singleplayer game, full with character and it's unique style you won't find anywhere else. These Double Fine guys and gals rock, I'm so happy to see this game finally get the exposure it deserves.

I wish they'd turn it into a cartoon series or a comic or something, if they can't do a sequel that is...

In other news, Steam is now available via Steam.

But seriously, good news. I missed out on Psychonauts the first time around. I will have t o pick this up here in the next couple weeks.

Purchasing and downloading right now. I missed this during console time and almost picked it up recently but since I heard Steam was grabbing it, I just waited a bit.

If you haven't picked up Psychonauts yet, you need to. There's really no excuse now. You don't even have to go anywhere.

What a great game. Frickin' Microsoft can't seem to get it right for BC...
I still have to play mine on my Xbox. Almost done with it, too! :)

Indeed there are quite a few games available at the Steam store nowadays, which is great in my opinion. But I have never purchased any~

If you do not have steam, for whatever reason, you can get it from PC Gamer's download service as well.

Buy it. Buy it before Double Fine goes the way of the dodo/Clover Studios.

The Steam store is actually starting to look like, well, a real store. I've purchased HL2, HL2:E1, Darwinia, Defcon, etc through Steam, and I've always been relatively happy with the experience. Glad to see Valve's continuing to pick up quality titles.

"I am a housewife, I am baking a pie, later I will be watching me stories."

The Milkman Conspiracy was easily one of the funniest things I have ever seen, heard, or witnessed.

I agree, it's my favorite Psychonauts level. "I am a road worker, I work on the road." My girlfriend is scared of that level, though. She says it's too creepy.

Quck question.... does the game play better on a console or pc?

I've been eyeing this game for a long time now. Not sure which platform to buy it on though.

Xbox or PC

Psychonauts is my favorite platformer since Mario 64.

Yes, it is that good.

The Milkman Conspiracy alone is worth the price of admission, and I bought this game new for $50. Where can I find a list of all the game's great quotes? That level alone had more (in one level!) than most games have in, well, the entire game!

I gave him a high five once. No hugs though.

It plays better with a controller. It plays excellently with the 360 controller on the PC.

Thats what I was thinking... I'm wishing the wirelss adapter was out for pc so I could use my wireless controllers on my pc.

Not exactly in the market to buy a wired controller when I already own 4 wireless. Grrr.

I like playing Psychonauts on keyboard+mouse. It plays very well and fluidly. They did a really good job.

I loved this on my Xbox, but I might just get it on Steam so I have it for eternity.

If it will work with the 360 wired controller, I'm there in a heartbeat.

Yup, it does. I have 3x 360 controllers for my PC's and they work great for Psychonauts.

I remember it played well at first with the keyboard and mouse, but as you got further into the game and had more psychic powers and tried using the lock-on and stuff it got unwieldly, a few too many keys for my left hand, where with a gamepad my right hand has four face buttons and two shoulder buttons to work with.

I know what you mean man. After buying HL2, then spending over 2 hours updating only to find out that the authentication server failed, I swore I'd never buy a Valve game again.

This news fills me moral turmoil.

Shamefully, I never so much as played the Psychonauts demo until a few weeks ago. I was blown away by the sheer quality of it. Unless I can get the physical copy for cheaper, I'll probably be making my first purchase via Steam soon.

My Favorite Psychonauts quotes:

"In Russia, bear is much smaller. Also more hair. Less lurking"

"This job is unsavory, but it must be performed by someone"

"Look at that woman's breasts. They are large."

"Ooooveeerlyyyinnntraaacit- COMBINATION! Diffficcult to aaavoooiidd-AREA ATTACK!"

I will be owning this second copy.

They're trying. Doublefine offered their engineers and MS turned them down.

Anyway, Amazon has copies for every system (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-5281303-5866443?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=psychonauts&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go), all under $20.

Assuming you bought HL2 on or around release day, those were Steam's fucking dark ages. Terrible, terrible stuff going on then. The service has gotten so much smoother and more wonderful in the last year or so, that it's almost unbelievable.
