Reuters (http://in.today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=technologyNews&storyID=2006-09-27T144829Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-269536-1.xml&archived=False) has a brief article about SCi, Britain's largest computer game publisher, about how Hitman and Tomb Rader have restored the company to profitability. In the article, SCi claims that the delay of the PS3 in Europe have not altered their plans for the console:

SCi also eased concerns, saying that Sony's recent decision to delay the European launch of its eagerly-awaited next generation Playstation 3 console until March would have no adverse affect on the firm as it has no plans to release any game on the platform until 2008.

Thanks to ConsoleWars.de (http://www.consolewars.de/news/13666/sci_keine_ps3_spiele_vor_2008/) for the tip.

I remember how SCi *promised* its fans Carmageddon 4.

Who cares about Tomb Raider or Hitman (ok, H4 was nice)?

I am dying to play Carma 4 !!!

For a company that just returned to profitability, one would think they are going to play it safe, hedge their bets and not spend huge development costs making PS3 games at this point. Rarely do companies return to profitability by accident. They probably are very wise for not jumping on the PS3 bandwagon due to all the warning signs, and they aren't alone.

PS3 games have a HUGE investment cost. Let larger companies with money to burn blaze the trail and develop the toolsets. Let a generation of games come out so you can hire experienced PS3 developers. No need to die on the bleeding edge.

Those we're pretty good games. A lot bettter then Carma.

2008, pfff, thta's probably when the PS3 pricetag is coming down anyway. Maybe I don't have to sell my mother to buy one then.

I'm not surprised by this at all. I think some smaller devs are taking a wait-and-see approach to the PS3.

WTH? I must have blinked and missed Eidos being taken over by SCi.

They certainly went through a slump, and they're nothing compared to what they used to be, but maybe recent performances (Hitman, TR, etc) mean they're going to be on the up again.

This just in: Eidos is creating an exclusive new title for Microsoft, Crossfire.

They may be passing on the PS3 for now, but they are still making games.

This is bad news for the PS3. Yet another developer that is less interested in it than the 360. I'm wondering if there is any 'war' left in the console war this generation?

I can never trust a developer with a name like Sales Curve Interactive.

Keep in mind the 360 has had a year's start. It would only be fair to compare support for the PS3 this time next year versus 360 support at the moment.
