Seaman is Coming (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/732/732018p1.html) (I doubt he is even breathing hard yet.) is the title of an article on ps2.ign.com with word that deveveloper Vivarium has finally announced (http://www.seaman.tv/) Seaman 2 the sequel to the popular fishman virtual pet title on the Sega Dreamcast.
Yes, but does it have Leonard Nimoy?

Coming soon to a Wii near you... Oh, it's on the PS2. Never mind.

As long as its better than his last effort, Odama. That game made me want to do bad things, very bad things. Seaman on the DC was so different, and so creepy / odd. I remember the manual saying it was something you'd want to play by yourself, as Seaman would ask some personal questions, which could get freaky sometimes. He correctly guessed my political party based off of where I lived and...damn, I can't remember the other question that lead to it.

Seaman and Wii are a perfect combo. I predict seeing Seaman all over Wii, especially after playing with the magic wand controller. Just think of the interactivity.
You'll see. Wii will come this fall and Seaman will be all over the place!! :O

I think you mean deaf armies. I would say the exact same thing to them, sometimes they got it, sometimes they didn't. That game seemed like 90% luck, 10% skill.

I hope he gets voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait this time.

How can it be on anything but the 360?
It's the only system that comes with a headset/mic.
They better go multiplatform on this or I'll cry. :(

Jesus, the hits we would have gotten would have rivaled GoW Canned and Joystiq's now infamous wait, wait fiasco.

The most depressing gaming experience I ever had was when I went on vacation for 2 weeks, and upon returning and booting up Seaman, Leonard Nemoy solomnly said, "I regret to inform you that Seaman has passed away"
That really hurt! He knew so much about me, and would ask questions about my life and my girlfriend....it was always an interesting experience. Can't wait for a sequal!

Although it was first announced for the PS2 last year, little is known about the long-awaited sequel.
Um, what? If it was announced last year, why are they announcing it again?
I smell something fishy.
And what about this PS2 BS? Do they really want to manufacture their own controller that badly? I mean, there's a perfectly good DS with a touch screen and microphone already out there. Oh, and there's that other little Nintendo product. They could make a much less expensive Wii mic attachment (a product Nintendo will no doubt ship their own version of in the future), which would be more natural. The only explanation I can think of--they've been developing the game (and controller) since before the DS came out or (bypassing the DS) before the Wiimote was announced and find abandoning that work unseemly. I find it hard to believe the company that is developing a game where you talk to a fish-man thinks of Nintendo's new controller as a gimmick.

I'm willing to bet it's less that, and more the fact that there are approximately a BAJILLION Playstation 2's in homes across the planet. It's likely a more profitable venture to distribute to the the most available platform.
If I had my way, it would come out for the Wii. It really is the perfect system a game as quirky and interactive as Seaman.

Well, if you recall, the dreamcast didn't come with a microphone, rather the game Seaman did.
And didn't Seaman 1 end up on the PS2 at some point? Thought I read that somewhere.

No it didn't.
I'll agree with others in this thread that the DS would be the perfect platform for this game. Give me a port of the first one on the DS and I will be smacking that Seaman around in no time.

All hits are good hits. The company I work for spends tens of thousands of dollars / year in pay-per-click to get people to our sites.

But at what cost to the good name of Evil Avatar (the site and the person)? That's a route which we will not be going down.

Seaman 1 was released for the PS2 but only in Japan.

You're right, It didn't.
But isn't also true that anything that requires an add on tends to split the market?
Why do that if the 360 and the Wii have available to them options that are pack in.

I wonder if it will use the Eyetoy camera at all...Imagine Seaman, staring right at you, no matter where in the room you are sitting. Hell, he could even ask where you are going if you moved. Now that would be creepy / awesome.

Evil Avatar does not have a good name. There is too much "EVIL" in the name.

If the game involves seamen, wouldn't George Takei be more appropriate?

I too think it would be a mistake to release it only on the PS2. This is mainly because most gamers will have moved on to "newer" and "more shiny" toys by the time it comes out, and, despite its attempt at mainstream appeal, it really is a game that gamers will appreciate because of how it breaks traditional game types. You have to be someone that plays tons of ogre slashing, zombie killing, alien blasting, animal stomping games to appreciate the "uniqueness" of a game that lets you have a tree dialogue conversation with a fish.
I still rememer the first Seaman very fondly and his smartass remarks when I told him I majored in philosophy. He even had a (very terrible) joke about Kant, I recall. Unfortunately, I got about 3/4ths of the way through the game and forgot to turn it on a few days in a row and I felt like switching the clock was "cheating" so I never got around to seeing the ending. (He was frog like in a trained container when I ended up quiting). I'd love another shot at completing the game, even if it were mostly the same with just improved voice recognition and more dialogue trees.

If only Vivarium would work with Schaffer on a new Adventure game and use their Voice Recognition in it.
I know i'm dreaming, but wth.

Seaman wasn't one of the most brilliant games ever released.
But it was a wee bit of a pain to actually play, since you basically had to devote multiple hours of every day caring for your virtual fish.
Still, there was a very deep satisfaction that came from hearing your seaman talk for the first time.
