We've always had a Trader Forum (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6) up on EvAv to allow our members to trade games between one another. I know some people are hesitant because there may not be some kind of guarantee that the transaction is smooth, timely, etc. That's where a service like Goozex (http://www.goozex.com) could come in handy.

Basically Goozex (http://www.goozex.com) is an online trading service for video games. The service launch on July 10th, 2006 and currently has over 750 active traders. Each trade costs $1, and everytime you trade something you get a set number of points. These points then can be used to purchase a trade for something else. Basically, this system makes more desirable games worth more to trade.

As a bonus to our members Goozex are offering a special coupon that gives you an additional 100 points and 2 free trades after you have sent out a game. Just enter the following code when you register: EvilAv-773-8691

Also note, if the service pans out fairly well we could actually work with Goozex (http://www.goozex.com) to integrate it into our site.

There's a letter from the founder Inside (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=376984#post376984).

Hi Evil Avatar members,

A few weeks ago after our company launched, a new member asked us to
visit Evil Avatar and see if we could get our name out there. I am happy
that I can share with you on this forum an exciting new service where
you can trade your video games based on a point system with people all
across America.

Goozex.com is simply an online trading peer-to-multi-peer platform that gives its members a cheap way to get new video games. It works on a point system that best matches with real market values for used video games. This gives both the receiver and sender the best value for the game. There is only a $1 trade fee for the receiver of a game. If you’re worried about getting bad games, don’t be because all games are 100% guaranteed.

As you collect points for games that you send out, you can turn around
and use them for games that you want. For example, say you decide to
trade your copy of Halo 2 (currently 400 points). Goozex matches you
with a receiver somewhere in the U.S. and you then send that person the
game. Goozex then credits your account with 400 points and you can turn
around and use those points to get another game like Ninja Gaiden (also
400 points).

As a bonus to Evil Avatar members we are offering a special coupon that
gives you an additional 100 points and 2 free trades after you have sent
out a game. Just enter the following code when you register:EvilAv-773-8691

I will be sticking around this announcement to answer any questions
and/or comments you may have and I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Looks good, I just wish they supported portables... I'd wouldn't mind trading GRAW for a few games.

yeah no portables kind of stinks since it seems that most of the games getting traded are DS (or 360). Then again, it's not like people couldn't just trade them the old school way on here if this other system were to be adopted.

Hi everyone! I am on the Goozex team, and I wanted to introduce myself. After BaPenguin gave us his blessings, I wanted to reach out to the Evil Avatar users who have become Goozex members...and also to those who have not. I thought it would be a good idea to answer any questions or comments about our service and to get feedback from everyone on what could make it better.

I look forward to hearing from everybody and I hope to see everybody continue trading.

Thanks,
Jon

p.s. Hopefully we can continue with special Evil av promos and coupons.

In response to portables, we will have PSP, DS and GBA by the end of August. We have recieved considerable feedback on this and are excited to be offering these other console types.

What determine the point values of games? Is that based off the number of copies of games up for trade?

Also, it would be nice to be able to sort a list by overall rating, for someone not looking for a specific game. Or maybe a most traded sort, with the most heavily traded games at the top.

Overall I love the site though.

this is kind of like a cheaper gamefly system. I like it, seems interesting and safe.

How do you guys (goozex) feel about the fragile 360 games (scratched to shit) if someone returns them saying they do not work?

Hey noname,

Point values take into consideration the Release Date, Game Rating, Price, and Supply and Demand. With Supply and Demand, the number of copies or lack of copies can play a role in an increase or decrease of points.

We are currently making changes to the site and plan on adding new search tools: by overall rating and by points

In response to your most traded request, under the special search section, you can activate Top Traded games to see the most heavily traded games.

Hope this helps ;)

Hey, your service looks fairly interesting, but I've a few caveats before I could sign up.

1. I'm Canadian. No love for Canada?

2. No DS games. I understand this is coming later.

3. Some of your PS1 games seem ridiculously underpriced.

4. I'd prefer to use Paypal for any payments, as opposed to a credit card.

Those are just my thoughts. I wish you luck!

We currently guarantee your trades on Goozex 100%. If a game is sent that does not work, you will be refunded immediately. We do however have tracking systems in place to prevent malicious users from attempting to commit this.

To help in preventing this, we hope that all users test a game before it is sent to another user.

What are you looking for for portable games?

Nothing right at this moment, but I figured I could trade it in at it's current point value and easily be able to get something in the future that I'd want. I mean, it looks like I would be able to get a copy of Megaman ZX and probably have points left over.

1) We hope to be expanding internationally after we have successful beta results in the States.

2) Indeed, by the end of the month, we should have DS, PSP and GBA

3) We are tweaking the prices to a few games here and there (rare games especially).

4) Currently we offer cybersource as our payment solution. We work with Bank of America and Cybersource is their online payment processing solution. We hope to eventually add Paypal in the future.

F.Y.I. - Goozex does not store any credit card information for those who might have been worried about that. Bank of America and Cybersource handle that for us.

Okay, cool. I picked up a crapload of GBA and DS games at the Circuit City sale and haven't played most of them. I was just curious.

I'm not sure how this works. When I goto add a game to my library, it says that I am committed to sending it if someone requests it. So...they ask for it, I send it and get X number of points? It isn't a direct trade where he has Game Y and I have Game Z and we tried? I then cash these points in?
hmm..

Sounds and looks like a decent set up. Wouldn't mind seeing it go international.

Me neither, at least if it went truly international (As in, overseas).

The Goozex system is designed to make trades as fast as possible, and to give users access to games throughout the Country. For this reason we don't limit the trades to 1-to-1.
So, you send out your game to user A and earn points.
Then, you can use these points to request another game from user B. And so on.
Points are only redeemable on goozex.com for games, and cannot be cashed out.

Check the Available Now and the Requested Now for a list of all games currently available for trade on goozex.com.

Hope this helps!

Currently we do not offer PC Games because of the legality issues with transfering of CD Keys.

Currently our envelope system does not consider the shipment of an entire system ;) . Hopefully after we are successful in the actual game area we can figure out a method of console trading. I do want to make clear though that we are currently focusing on the games itself. It is a neat idea though ;)

What? You don't allow trading of Arcade games?
;)
I signed up for an account and threw a handful of games up that I'm looking to get rid of. I'll be sure to post what my experiences are.

One quick one, gooze.

On my user page it says:

Your feedback score is: 0 (1 active requests at a time)
Yet I've not recieved any information about this "active request". I assume that this means someone requested one of my games. Is that correct or am I misunderstanding?

Hey Mightbe,

Thanks for the question! There are two games statuses if you havent been matched with another user for the transaction.

- "Active": Your request is in process and if there is no wait and you are selected, you are sent the game. If there is a wait, your place in line will decrease as you wait for the game.
Basically, in the Active state, if you are selected, the seller will send you the game.

- "On Hold": If you reach the maximum amount of trades "in transit" to you, all of your trades will be "On Hold". In addition, if you have a request that you really want, you can put all of your trades "On Hold" so that when that game becomes available to you, it is sent to you immediately.

Hope this was helpful! :)

I will be sending off my second game today. I have not yet received feedback from the first game I sent. I am currently at like 800 points with the game I will be mailing today.

So how has anyone else’s experience been with this so far?

Identical to yours, actually. I've not found anybody who wants to send me a game yet though. They've all declined the transaction.

Well I am currently fith in line for a game that I want. Other then that I will be saving my points till I get a 360 to get some of those game.
