Marvel's big Civil War event has been setting the comic discussion on these boards aflame for quite some time now. In response to the buzz, I sat down to a couple Skype conversations with some of the comic readers on this site to explore and analyze the various questions raised by the first three issues of Marvel's summer 2006 event. Give it a listen (http://www.evilavatarradio.com/audio/EAR.Comics1.CivilWarBasics.mp3) -- even non-comic readers should find it interesting! If you have been reading the series so far, having issues #1-3 alongside while listening to this podcast is highly recommended!
Joining me for these discussions: my good friend Jason, Everlost_mi, digitalerich, Sazime, Spigot, and agentgray. Keep in mind that these are VERY SPOILER-HEAVY DISCUSSIONS. You can listen to the show in your web browser courtesy of Odeo (http://odeo.com/audio/1706110/view). Let us know what you think of the comics roundtable format and if you'd like to hear more (or just your thoughts on Civil War) by e-mailing me at evilavatarnews@gmail.com!

Thanks man. I enjoy the work, plus, as an added bonus, I learned something about comics editing this 'cast. Kudos to everyone who participated. :)

Spoiler
I forgot who said it, but he nailed it on the head about the alterante diminsion thing for Reed's Project 42. The new super human prison is in the 'negative zone.' Seems to suck out people's souls too. Bonus!

Hooray! I have been waiting to hear what has been made of our blather recorded lo those many years ago.
And welcome, Civil Thor.
As for what 42 is... as it was revealed in the latest Frontline, I have to ask, how can Reed Richards be behind this and not feel like it's one of the most evil ideas ever? And why can't he build something like this to deal with the real bad guys?
That's the one thing that bothers me about this. Reed's always been someone who brings ethics to his rampant thirst for knowledge and invention. This seems somewhat out of character for ol' Stretch.

This is my most favorite 'cast we've done yet. Seriously, if you don't read comics, it's just that good and easy to follow.

Kickass! :) Hope to see you posting more, in the comics threads if nothing else!

Yeah, haven't read the latest Frontline yet, but from what I hear this is insanely crazy.

Thanks for the compliments everyone and welcome, Civil Thor. I'm really looking forward to doing more of these and seeing what event we tackle after CW - far off, I know :)
BTW, that was me Swiftdraw, although I can't really say it was all that insightful...it's just that most ppl aren't reading Thunderbolts : )

Man, just hearing the compliments is giving my ego a boost. :D
I've already got it off to my non-gamer friends who don't visit this site (yet :) ) and tomorrow it's going out to my co-workers (from lowly me to our CIO and CEO). I'm totally psyched to be part of this!

Since I was in kind of a rush to get it edited (seems like forever ago... it was what, July 31st?) I didn't take notes, therefore I didn't have a 1Up post on it. (If anyone is curious though, http://pseudopseudo.1Up.com)
And Sazime, you can take the office next to mine. You wouldn't want the one next to Kef's... what with all the partying and wild sex orgies going on in there all the time.

Can I at least get a new water cooler? This one you have installed next to my cell has things swimming in it.

No. and we installed the creatures in the water to be your friends. You best enjoy it.

Why am I in the basement with the lights off? I used to have desk by the window and there were two squirrels and...and..they were married.
Has anyone seen my red stapler?

But they pinch when I try to drink!
Agentgray, I think Madhiro took your Red Stapler. Mumbled something about Jane when he came up the stairs.

Project 42? Tell how old is Franklin. I mean couldn't he just think up a new dimension to throw baddies in all by himself with little effort.
And Civil War is fun but I'm more interested in stoping the hulk.

I do agree with the popular opinion that Mr. Fantastic is a bit off character in this book, but the Project 42/Negative Zone thing didn't surprise me at all. What I do question is why the writers on this project elected to put such an important plot point as Nitro's government connections in the Wolverine side story and not the main Civil War book. I was pretty happy with Marvel for not forcing me to read an entire 3 years worth of backup stories, like I had to do for Infinite Crisis. I'm just worried now that if I don't pick up every single book that has the Civil War banner I'm gonna miss something really important. Which, I guess, is what Marvel was probably banking on.

Yeah, this completely irked me as well. I'm still hoping, though, that it pops into the main books (Front Line or Civil War itself) reasonably soon.

Not to mention some other things going on in side stories right now. Needless to say, we'll have a lot to talk about in the next 'cast.

Yeah, I'm very happy that I started picking up the side story books. The only problem is that the big reveals/events in the main book tend to be heavily foreshadowed in the tie-ins so they're not as big of a shocker when they happen... at least #2 and #3 weren't.
I'm also rather happy as I finally tracked down a copy of Wolvie #43 today. I had #42 and #44 but not #43... it's a little mangled, but it's better than nothing. (I'm sure that's a statement that will excommunicate me from the higher ranks of the comic guild).
