The Project Offset website has been updated with job listings for Xbox 360 programmers, along with several other development related positions:

Xbox 360 Programmer

Primary responsibility will be to handle porting, maintaining, and optimizing the codebase for the Xbox 360. Experience developing for the Xbox 360 is a huge plus. Experience programming for console platforms is required.
You can see the listing on the Offset jobs (http://www.projectoffset.com/Jobs.html) page, and read up on the game, as well as see videos of the technology in motion here (http://www.projectoffset.com/game.html).

Looks like Offset has finally found a "major" publisher. Great news, because the technology is absolutely stunning. X06 is just around the corner, so hopefully we'll hear more about it very soon. Could MS have picked this up?

With so much buzz around Offset, I'm surprised it's taken them this long to find a publisher.

I would actually be mildly surprised if they did find a publisher, although I think their stuff looks great, the amount of money it'd take produce a game at that quality is simply not within reach or not worthwhile for most publishers (IOW, you have a very limited number of buyers). If they could get a LOTR or D&D license or something, that'd help alot, but it'd still be pretty tough.

They already have a publisher and are moving in to new offices right now.

Finally all moved in! We are looking for talented programmers and artists to join our team. We are now backed by a major publisher but will not be disclosing the details just yet. Visit our jobs page for more information on available positions.

Looking for 360 programmers. Have the backing of a major publisher, but are not disclosing details yet. X06 next month. Nuff said.

Just because they are looking to hire a 360 programmer, doesn't mean it's not coming out for PS3. Crytek is looking to hire a PS3 Programmer (http://www.crytek.com/inside_crytek/item.php?id=42&s=jobs&pID=4) and has no job listing for a 360 programmer, does that mean Crysis is not coming out for 360?

The tech demo's for this engine were really impressive, but I'm waiting to see some actual gameplay videos before getting to hyped.

Offset was a 3 man team until recently, so the possiblity of them already having a PS3 programmer in-house is approximately zero. Ubi/Crytek are huge and already have tons of Xbox/360 guys in-house, so your comparison is pretty bunk.

Well, good for them, it's nice to see that happen.

i'm guessing that whoever is publishing it, it'll come out for the PC, eventually

i'm willing to bet that it's probably MS that has picked it up, although it could've been somebody like 2K games (Oblivion's publisher). it's highly unlikely that they'd already have a PS3 and a PS3 developer, since no one has experience publishing a game there :) not to imply it for sure won't come out for the PS3, just that it's probably still unlikely from what we know.

Crysis is not coming to consoles at all let them tell it. So it could be more for the benefit of adapting the engine for future games. Sony may have paid for that luxary. Maybe it’s that much harder to convert a PC game to the PS3 engine. And it's true about possibly already having Xbox 360 programmers already and it being easier to program for. But that’s all hearsay. Another thing, Crytek is bigger then PO. Hell, it's also a chance PO just got turned into the new Bungie.

It seems too convenient. They announce we have new jobs and a big publisher finally back them. One of those jobs is Xbox 360 prog. If it was Ubi or EA they'd have a PS3 prog for sure. PC and X360 is just a MS type thing. Hell, it would be in there best interest as well to have a new go to engine on the DX9-esque platform. I'm going to go Microsoft Game Studios, ftw.

Could MS have picked this up?I can't find the original story reported here at Evil Avatar, so do you think this could be the fabled new IP that Microsoft is supposed to announce in Barcelona at X06? For obvious reasons (www.ericnylund.net/2006/07/confession-of-microsoft-employee.html) most people, including me, think it will be something new from Bungie. Who knows, maybe Project Offset is actually one of the big announcements. I certainly hope so.
