PS2.IGN (http://ps2.ign.com) has posted the debut trailer (http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/746/746536/vids_1.html) for Bully, the upcoming Rockstar title that's being developed for the PS2.

Eh... hard to tell what the gameplay will be like from the trailer.

Joystiq says:
"Bully has an interesting history. Although announced long ago by Rockstar, very few details have been released about the game. However, that didn't stop eager politicians to decry the title, knowing only that it was about bullying and by the same developers who make Grand Theft Auto. Anti-game activist Jack Thompson cites the game in nearly every press release and publicized letter, calling it a "Columbine simulator."
The now PS2 exclusive has been unveiled to the mainstream press, and it turns out the controversy is a tad overblown. The New York Times and Rocky Mountain News discuss (and laud) its punishment system, which forces the character to do menial tasks for breaking the rules (e.g. mowing the grass, shoveling snow). In essence, the game pushes you to be a good student, earn a kiss from a girl, and stand up to Bullies."
My take:
I really like the premise. I’m 26 now, and I do find myself waxing lyrical about the old school days. Being able to revisit school as a hero or villain should be fun.
Part of the reason that Harry Potter is so popular with adults as well as kids is that they are a chance to revisit your youth. Not just revisiting your youth, but revisiting it as it should have been – revisiting the idealised/fantasy version of school that we have in our heads.

The trailer looks intruiging, but the PS2-onlyness makes me an angry kid. I'd expected it to be fairly free-roaming but from the movie it seems quite linear and plot-heavy.

Eh, well, that's because it was made up of cut-scenes.
After seeing the trailer, it looks like it could end up be rated Teen. It didn't seem like there was very much going on in the way of over the top violence, and there's no way they're going to show nudity in a game about a high school.

You encapsulated the entirety of my reaction to this trailer.
It's too bad I've loaned away my PS2 with no expectation of ever getting it back... although, I also had no expectation of using it again.

According to a thread on the IGN boards they're aiming for Teen, so nicely spotted.

Well the trailer doesn't look anything like the game that was rumored to be but who knows. The trailer looked like a movie trailer.

They were talking about this on a local talk station this morning. It's good to here people other than gamers calling fault on the parents, noting a game can do no harm.

Yeah looked kinda like a trailer for a cheesy preteen/teen flick. Nothing compelling there, at least in my opinion. Will have to wait for actual gameplay footage at any rate.

Looks like Rockstar will have the last laugh, considering all of the free publicity they got from the "controversy".

I know the GTA franchise didnt have good graphics and was still very fun. But I gotta say the graphics look very ancient, the gameplay is going to have to be spot on for me to play it. And with Rockstars hit and miss history its hard to get syched for it.

Plot heavy?? Oh noes!! Yeah that would be a crime...
Rockstar can try all they want, but the same way this game was prejudged without seeing it, they won't get a fair shake and I'm sure this game with be rated M.
That's not to say I'm a R* fan and I'm defending them, because I'm sure the game will be the same low-poly drab crap they've been churning out lately and all the R* fanboys will love it irrationally, just that the ESRB are going to be extra-stringent on R* from now on.
