TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting that Capcom has released some free downloadable content for Dead Rising. For free. As in, no points required.

Check it out here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11527/Capcom-Releases-First-Content-Download-for-Dead-Rising/).

Capcom has released the first downloadable content for its action horror game Dead Rising. The eight new keys available for free at Xbox Live Marketplace let gamers access the correspondent costume in the game.

The eight keys are:

1. Miami Nights Key
2. Casual Key
3. Weekender Key
4. Round Shades Key
5. Burgundy Wine Key
6. Grandpa Key
7. Pink Parparazzi Key
8. Man in Black Key

Each key has a file size of 108KB.
Like, totally awesome, man! I'm playing the game right now and it rocks. Oh, and the above content is free!

o_O New costumes have been up for a couple of days now. What I'm really curious about is if they're going to release new areas for free. I'm guessing they'll release some new weapons, too, and hoping they get rid of a couple of the annoyances. (Save slot, time constraints.)

Time issue goes with the infinate mode.

This is a great thing. Rewarding people for buying your game, not nickle and diming those same people. At least not right away.

Good job, Capcom.

Cool, this is a nice bonus. Though I'm guessing by "key" they mean that the content is already on the DVD, and downloading this just unlocks it...so it's a bit different from how some other games are doing it with new content.

I just picked this up today, and it's a lot of fun. Though harder than I thought it would be. Fighting those stupid psychopaths is hard, since they seem to recover from getting shot so much quicker than Frank does. I may wind up doing the restart-with-stats thing and plan ahead better this time.

I fucking love the game. I will pay for new areas if they add them, and I'd pay for new weapons as well. I'M A ZOMBIE KILLING FIEND!!!!

What is the difference between going to the fight with the psycopaths and just skipping it into the fight with Carlito?

Is that just a matter of time?

[edit] I think you just wait until you get a phone message, but I'm not sure, because my tv's too small and I can't read the phone text. I did the fight with Carlito the first time I tried it, and fought the psychopaths when I went to go through again.

Most Definately.
Now if we could only convince Microsoft to give away the themes/picture packs with a game when you purchase it.
Either that or some Points with every game purchase.

This game is freakin' awesome. Only gripe I have so far is the shitty save system.

Noticed this thread the other day. Just giving some credit (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16024)where it's due.

It's cool that so many of you are liking this game, one doesn't normally see such a strong outpouring of nothing but (mostly) positive news.

Did anyone else go through the door to the warehouse that brings up the cut-scene in the demo that shows the main character killing a wasp/bee or hornet thus resulting in the zombies heads exploding?

If Capcom had released this (or something else) as pay content, they would have been accused of "holding back" content for the paid download, even if that wasn't the truth.

Sometimes, stuff doesn't get done until after the game's gone gold. Hopefully people remember that before throwing sissy fits about whatever game comes along next with premium downloads.

I watched an interview with the game designers, and strangely enough they seemed hyped up about the save system and how cool it is that when you miss a plot point thing you get to start again, totaly awesome!
And also how they like the way that if you get attacked while talking on the phone the entire converstion starts over. Which might be helpfull, but doesnt really seem like a cool feature worth bragging about.

I always wondered how bad ideas made it into games.

I think that's exactly it. Each key was 108kb or so and there's no way that skin textures are that small anymore.

Ridge Racer 6 did the same thing. They had keys for certain cars that were released on the marketplace. They did that a few times so I guess there could be more of these to keep people playing their game, if only to try out the new costumes.

Make a new XBox Live account for another region. There are various threads here and other places on how to do so. Thus, the demo can be yours shortly.

pesonaly I find Dead Rising a most pleasing gaming experince.

I have some issues with the controls and targeting systems, and a major beef with save game feature and dumb ass AI of both your enemies (the pluseless kind excluded) and your allies. This is much better then glorifing the antics of evil gansters ala the godfather or GTA, this is about celebrating the god given right to smash zombie heads in and run them over with the near by lawn mower.

The opening cut scene if you let the start menu go by is one of the creepiest things I've seen in a video game, it highlighted the horror and drama in such a way as to present the people in the game not as polygons but flesh and blood.

which the zombies really seem to dig.

If anyone wants to bug me, my gamer tag is my name.

-Zombie Shakespear (which isn't my gamertag)

Anyone else do the survey? the ask if you'd buy another console to play the sequel. This is a feeler for seeing if gamers would be willing to shell out 641.99 to play Dead Rising II.

I suggest doing it through your 360 as well once the passport account with the country you want has been set up, it's about a thousand times simpler then xbox.com supplying you with a stream of errors

The "keys" are literally keys used to unlock the lockers in the security room where the new outfits are...oddly, I can't seem to find any of them but jacket/pants color changes. No "man in black", no "grandpa" etc...

If this isn't holding back content, then nothing is. I don't complain since it's free, but if they charge money for a pack in the next week there'll be hell to pay. This a publicity stunt more than anything, planned from the beginning to get people's attention focused on the game once again shortly after release (obviously). Not that there is something wrong with that...as long as it's, you know, free.

I believe this game shares some designers with Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter which had some similar concepts. I actually thought it was quite novel in that game.

The plot was more layered on multiple playthroughs. For example, the first time through, you were asked to leave a room during a cutscene, and you don't see what happens in there. The second time through the game, you do. It was a very novel and well employed mechanic in my opinion.

I haven't played Dead Rising yet due to a wedding this weekend for my sister-in-law which is consuming time around here, but I'm hoping there are similar characteristics to Dead Rising.

I took the survey and my only negative comment was to have infinite mode open from the beginning.

This isn't about Capcom... MS gives financial incentive to game companies who provide live content. They want to give people a reason to get online so they can suck you into their controlled market... hey, it works.
