Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/fatalinertia/news.html?sid=6155528) has the preview with new screens.
Screens are here (http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/fatalinertia/screenindex.html).
At least it looks respectable.

Not trying to offend any PS3 fans out there, but this game looks very bland. I dont see any next-genosity here. The PS3 launch titles aren't that compelling. Here's to 2007!!!

well.. I mean, honestly, it takes someone serious to pull out a "futuristic racing game" and have it be cool. There's 100 problems with this game on the drawing board alone.
I hate Sony as much as the next good Evil Avatar reader, but they are the company that brought Jet Moto into the world, and I will always give them grudging respect for that. Best futuristic racing game ever.

Don't blame the PS3 for these screens.

The water looks pretty nice. This game does have 'Launch Title' writen all over it, though.

Now how does Gamespot put out the preview of the game for not released console? What does it run on? Dev-kit? Do they go to developers shop? Is it based on what the developers rep says? Kinda confused here... As for the game - looks ok at best.

Finally! I've been looking forward to the release of this game ever since I saw the first screenshots. They were on the folders in my trapper-keeper, back in 1986.

Wow, I can't believe people are still putting down this game. I'm with the rest of you that this game used to look like crap, but you think these shots don't look good? The environmental textures, water, lighting and sky all look 100x better than the old shots. One of the things I hate the most about games is the blocky stretched out textures on the environments, yet look at this (http://i.i.com.com/cnet.g2/images/2006/220/reviews/930023_20060809_screen007.jpg). The ground and surroundings are completely clean, no blotchy textures, no stretching, nothing! I also just noticed that the grass and bushes are real geometry and not flat billboards. Sounds like they took a page from Moto GP's developers.
I think the game looks pretty boring at this point, and the ship textures as well as the shaders on the effects could use some improvement, but this looks a HELLUVA lot more impressive than before. I'm really floored by the improvement.

Has the game improved? Yes. Is it impressive? No. Could a PC or the 360 produce the same results? Probably.
I'm waiting for the PS3 to wow me. Show me something that couldn't be done elsewhere...maybe graphically, ease of use, networking, anything.

Why not wait until the games are completed and you can play them?
Asking something to "wow" you that isn't even out yet isn't going to get you very far.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your next generation engines! It looks like Sony was right all along - the next generation starts with them. Games like this are a shining beacon in the sea of mediocrity that we're facing right now. Games like PGR, Ridge Racer 6, Burnout Revenge and Quantum Redshift simply cannot hold a candle to the awesome power of the PlayStation 3!

My bad.But Fatal Inertia's running in widescreen. Widescreen.
Actually I think Quantum Redshift could too, just not in 720p, I think that game was limited to 480p. I hope the ships in Fatal Inertia feel less wide and floaty. Also they should have some long tracks where you can get up to max-speed. Even though you could go like 900 MPH in QR, there were no tracks with a long enough straightaway to make that fun.

Sony got to start filtering crap that game developers are trying to put on the PS3, thats about it. Focus more on the games that are going to draw people to the PS3, this game IMO just doesn't do that.

So, you're saying the PS3 lineup should consist entirely of Metal Gear Solid 4?

looks ok, and its true it DOES look like QR, but then, i did love that game (baught 2 copies) and personally i am a fan of the next gen racers. Screens for games like this only tell half a story, how it "feels" is equally important so personally i dont think there is enough evidence to either wow or pooh pooh this game.

nice. i was gonna mention how it didn't even look as some of the environments in QR.
maybe it'll just be tons of fun with the twisty controller and will be one of the first in 1080p ? :D

I'm being serious when I say this game looks like something we were making in our final year at university. This was in 2003.
The bold colours, frankly low resolution terrain, big ass 2D sprite icons.
Final year assignment yes, game to look forward to, not really.

The game looks better than Quantum Redshift...but not by much. But have you taken a look at PGR2 and PGR3? They don't look that different in certain screenshots.
Before we rip Sony for a job poorly done, we should see it in action.
By the way, it is unfortunate that Quantum Redshift is still not backwards compatible on the 360...I too enjoyed that game.
