SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES CASH MONEY CHAOS FOR THE PSP® SYSTEM
Retro Arcade Game Play Combined With an Action-Packed, Twisted Game Show Scheduled to Rock the PSP(R) System In Early 2007
SAN DIEGO, CA August 9, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment LLC ( SOE ), a global leader in the online games industry, to day announced Cash Money Chaos for the PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable) system. Cash Money Chaos ( CMC ) is expected be available in Q1 2007 for the suggested retail price of U.S. $29.99.
Cash Money Chaos is an action-packed, arcade-style shooter that explodes a new genre on to the PSP, said Chris Sturr, Senior Global Brand Manager, Sony Online Entertainment. CMC will have players scratching their heads, asking themselves if they really just saw and shot what they think they did. Of course, taking your hands off the controls to scratch your head may be detrimental to surviving the next wave of killer gorillas or demented clowns.
CMC contains more than 50 hyper-fast levels, from circus tents to swamps to medieval settings, where players will grab cash, prizes and weapons as they unleash to rrents of destruction upon their foes. Set to a hardrocking soundtrack, players will annihilate alien chickens, mutant hillbillies, and homicidal clowns, in addition to tackling monster bosses, such as the enormous bearded lady and her cadre of deadly unicyclists.
CMC will also take full advantage of the PSP systems network capabilities, delivering both local and internet games for up to eight players, allowing them to bash their way through the game cooperatively or to compete against each other in prize-laden death matches. CMC is a futuristic and brutal experience with a sarcastic sense of humor.
About Cash Money Chaos

With over 50 blood-filled and body part-laden levels, CMC puts you right in the middle of a televised free-fire zone with two goals: get the cash and survive to the end. Featuring wickedly fast-paced, arcade-style action in a fully 3D world, you will fight dozens of enemies at once as you fight to stay alive. CMCs multiplayer functionality allows up to eight friends to wirelessly team up or compete against each other in exciting online scenarios. As you kill enemies, they drop both cash and prizes to help you finish your goal. CMC is a futuristic and brutal experience with a sarcastic sense of humor.

I like that style of gameplay but from what you just posted I can safely say that the theme for this games sounds like absolute crap.
I also think they might be overdoing is based on those screenshots. It took me about 10 seconds just to find the player character in the one screenshot.
Sure tons of gore is good, but there is such a thing as too much when you can't even see your character.
I'll keep an eye on it though, since I feel bad that I never use my PSP.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the pools of blood and body parts scattered on the ground slightly disturbing? Is that really necessary? I guess no one ever lost money appealing to the lowest common denominator.

You never played the original Smash TV, did you? It was the same way (except sub in explosions for gore) and it was still one of the most fun games ever.

I find it disturbing. I don't need tons of blood and gore to enjoy a good game. They could make it look like Geometry Wars and I'd probably be more excited to play it than if it is clearly aiming to appeal to those who love buckets of blood.

On a related note, I just saw "The Descent" yesterday and it was by far one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. I'm sure it's better than most "torture porn" flicks, but I was not aware that this is what it was nor did I have any desire to see this type of film. I read a few reviews that were really positive on it, but I had no idea I was just going to watch what amounted to two hours of peoples veins being ripped out, eye sockets being gouged and bones being crushed. It wasn't my first choice of films to see to begin with (we were too late to see the one I wanted to see), but I got a lot of grief for it from my friends nonetheless. All of them, like me, hated it.

It's only disturbing if you fear your own mortality.
Besides. It's not real. It's a bunch of pixels on the screen.
You want disturbing go watch the Fear factor guys bob for apples in vats of cow blood.
This game actually makes me want to dust off the PSP and give it a try. I'm seriously hoping that the load times aren't that bad. After dealing with the 20-25 second load times in Sims2 and World Championship Poker 2 (long load times for poker, I shit you not.) I had to shelve my PSP and I've been seriously considering getting a DS Lite for when I got on vacation next month.

There comes a point though, where one must distance oneself from fiction, and recognize the difference between fantasy and reality.
It's an exceedingly important skill, and the difficulty some people have in even understanding this fact, it is at the heart of all the big controversies about violent media.

I won't argue that there is a difference, yet fiction evokes emotional responses. It shapes us; much like the food we put into our body shapes our bodies. It isn't just what goes in, but what you do with it too. I'm not laying blame on movies, video games or art, but filling your mind with trash isn't helpful for a healthy mind.

I've been playing violent and gory video games for years, yet I remain an avid pacifist.
I think people blow the effects of media out of proportion, because they don't understand that the mind simply doesn't respond to false images the same way it does to real ones.
Being desensitized to virtual violence doesn't really translate into similar responses in reality. I'd be really, really surprised if you found to a soldier in Iraq who said that playing GTA made it easier for him to adjust to real combat.
It's not the same. And most people are smart enough to register that.

You can't eat only junk food and expect to have a healthy body.
You can't only consume junky media and expect to have a healthy mind.
Sure, you can work out a lot more to burn off the extra fat you may eat, but you still won't be as healthy as you would if you heat healthy.
Sure, you can be a stable person if you live off of trashy media, but imagine how much better you would be if you consumed more healthy media.

Yanno, I'm a developing fan of the PSP, but I gotta admit those screens are a wee bit on the pixelly side.
But I've also found that screens of most handheld games tend to look much more hideous than seeing the game in actual play.

Do YOU have a PSP? Or have you played many games on it?
I've had my PSP since about a month after they came out, and used Gamefly to rent quite a few games for it. The only games where I ran into SIGNIFICANT load times were Raw vs. Smackdown 2006 and Madden '06. So I'd say that's FAR from "most". Unless you're comparing load times for the PSP against load times for cartridge-based systems, which is beyond unfair. Understandably, if you're gaming on the go, any load time is bad load time, but calling 3-5 seconds "horrible" is pushing it.
And I've never been that dissatisfied with the graphics. They're about as good as they come on a handheld.
Regardless, an earlier post in the thread beckons me to yell "Cash Money Records takin' over for the 9-9 into tha' 2-thousand!" (Yeah, rap is dumb sometimes.) :)
J Arcane

I would correct that by saying the graphicss just plain ARE as god as they come on a handheld.
But more importantly, there are games for it I like. And more coming out in the future that look good. I was a big fan of the DS at launch, because it seemed like Nintendo was really gonna try sometihng new, but all that's come out since then is either GBA updates that ignore the touch screen, and gimmicky minigames.
And really, games are what's most important, on any console.

My point still holds -- Smash TV was far more addicting than the sequel, which was essentially a bloody crapfest of running thru the desert, wiping out squads of soldiers and tanks, rescuing hostages, etc. I want the game show host back, dammit!

Check out Super SmashTV on the Genesis. First crack I got at SmashTV, and Genesis controller only had a dpad and three buttons. And I still managed to lay waste to the super giant robot host.
Also, why don't you stop posting in Sony-related threads. We all know you hate everything sony-related, whether there's a reason to or not. And as to your food-media analogy, you're retarded. Eating lots of junk food will make a person fat and unhealthy (as evidenced by SuperSize Me); gory games and movies have no effect on health, mental or physical, whatsoever (aside from the fact that if you play too many games, even super happy funtime games, and dont' get exercise, you end up a fat slob). No one likes a Self-Righteous asshole.
I hope this game is good. SmashTV style action on the go would be totally awesome.

I suppose. That would feel awfuly wierd, especially since you are steering with the right and and shooting with the left.
It would be even better if they would allow you to flip the damn thing over, or if they give you a 2nd analog stick in the package.
Still, Smash TV isn't a game that should be ported to the PSP for the controls alone. Why not make games that work well on the control scheme provided instead of trying to shoe-horn inappropriate control schemes on the device; FPS games for example?
I still believe the text entry method used in Beyond Good And Evil should be the default text entry method on the PSP. It would make such excellent and intuitive use of the analog nub. Text entry would be fast, easy and fun. Instead they took the worst part of the phone and mashed it into a plus pad, getting the worst of both worlds for no reason whatsoever.

Once again, THIS ISN'T A PORT OF SMASH TV. I see your point, but this isn't Smash TV. It just looks similar. Hell, the control scheme might (and more than likely will be, given the limitations of the PSP) be completely different, and damn, might actually be good.
