First itīs too much brown, then it was too much green. I guess now people will complain about it being too bright...
That explosion sure looks good, a nuke maybe?
I think "got a present for ya" has made it into every C&C 3 newspost this year. The classics never die, of course.
I haven't played an RTS since AoE III, and I haven't played any C&C since 2005. CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM.

Teh sepia, my eyes! No really, that looks pretty good. Hopefully it will take a turn to a more "realistic" direction where (like in the original) 5 tanks is much and you have to take care of em to make it.

it looks like there finaly will be a physics engine in a C&C game, where i can destroy ( not your own or enemy builds) buildings / environment.
thats why i love "Soldiers: Heroes of World War II" where i can actually drive a tank through a building and will collapse :)

Looks really nice. I can't wait to see how the UI goes with it. Let alone how the gameplay stacks up.
A part of me is hoping the combat works like Act of War (realistic), but I should know better. Excited, nonetheless.

Yeah... it looks pretty... I'm still waiting to hear about the actual gameplay though... At least give us a screen of the UI.

It's been confirmed that the UI is going to be like the classic C&C sidebar, not the Generals style UI, thankfully.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/705/705757p1.html.
It's also worth mentioning the return of the side-bar interface: Our in-game UI for C&C3 is a side-bar that will feel familiar to C&C players but it has some added features that make it more useful - and make it feel interesting and new. We are combining the centralized production queues in the classic C&C side-bar with contextual space for selected units and structures. The new UI lets you quickly build units and structures, easily control grouped units, and access your build queues anywhere on the map - even in the middle of a battle. But you can still get lots of information about your selected units and activate their special abilities - which is pretty much expected in the latest generation RTS games. We think our interface for C&C3 is the best of both worlds.

One of the top-two things that made the C&C franchise great was the personality of the game. Your units weren't just cool, they had character - as the ultimate example of the commando shows. We ALL remember "GOT A LITTLE PRESENT FOR YA!!!"
Now look at those screenshots. Label them EARTH 2190 and you'd believe it easily. Nothing they've shown has ANY of the C&C character. It looks like a very derivative RTS-alike "in the year two thousaaaaaaand... in the year two thooousaaaaaaaaaand."
I just don't see anything recognizable from the franchise in any of the screenshots. The "mammoth tanks"? Might as well be double-cannon plasma tanks from The Confederation. The infantry? Why bother calling them infantry, they're Elementals from Mechwarrior.
The whole thing looks like a miserable, dessicated version of what someone heard from their friend about C&C, only in the future. I'll pass.
Oh, and I've had my coffee now.

Interesting side note - in a couple screens, you notice burnt out vehicles, which look like USA hummers & GLA tanks from Generals.

Get Company of Heroes.
Company of Heroes is still stuck in the Relic DoW framework - get resource points, hold them, pushpushpush forwards.
It's a great, aggressive multiplayer-centric framework, but it's not C&C at all.
No shared resources between allies?
No piling my men into an allies halftrack?
No building my base wherever I like?
No individual unit control?
No Superweapon (I mean REAL superweapon, not a strafing run or artillery barrage)
No "special units" like the commando or Tanya?
Company of Heroes is a lot of fun - but it's no C&C/RA.

Well said. As much as I like DoW, its really an entirely different RTS. It's nice to go back and forth.

You could do that in Tiberian Sun to almost everything. It even had tiberian fiends and veinholes. Things of which are absent so far in this game.
To be completely honest, I'm just not falling into this game yet. I really didn't like Generals and this looks so much more like it. I'm not talking just graphics, but the way units look. Infact, the whole mech thing...it reminds me of the new Battlefield. They look nothing like Tiberian Dawn/Sun units. It just makes me feel uneasy.

I didn't like Generals too... but the Expansion (Zero Hour) it was very nice... :)
