You can read the short article at Gamespot or here (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6155462.html).

Ubisoft has shown a considerable amount of support for the Wii already. For instance, the original news of the aforementioned press release was that the publisher would have seven games available for the Nintendo system at launch. In addition to the already announced Rayman and Red Steel, Ubi pledged to have Wii versions of Blazing Angels, Far Cry, Open Season, and more ready for launch day. This also makes the Wii the only next-gen system confirmed to play host to a Prince of Persia title. The Wii third party support is getting better & better!!

The Wii third party support is getting better & better!!Not when you consider the fact that the Wii third-party support is almost entirely Ubisoft. :p

Still, awesome news. Let's hope other developers jump on the bandwagon and create some cool titles for my future favorite system. :D

Awesome.

Were we not just talking about the Wii being perfect for adventure games, only to have a great classic action adventure be anounced. Scratch that, THE classic action adventure game.

The Wii has to be more then a passing gimmicy thing. It seems like, developers are getting excited. To me that is far more important then any fanboys doing the same.

Nice. :p

Actually, second party would be the player, so second-party games would be games that only the developer plays. EA's Head Coach, for example. :D

I'm happy but sad. I LOVED the PoP series and it was amazing - I was also happy it was over. A truly great series deserves a great ending and I was happy it wouldn't be ruined later on or bilked as a cash cow franchise. Ultimately a series needs to end or else the next sequel made may be it's last if it doesn't sell well. From what I got out of Two Thrones, it pretty much tied up any loose ends and had a superb finale, bringing the series full circle. I even got a little...misty eyed..

Wii's third party support is the complete opposite to that of the Gamecube. I'm glad they're getting a good response from developers with their ideas.

Though I was under the impression that Ubisoft weren't making any more PoP games? Not that I'm complaining or anything, because I loved them, but still, it comes as a suprise.

Take this with a Grain of Salt. Seriously. N64 promised great 3rd party, Gamecube did the same.

But you see, it is already showing the support that the other two systems lacked from the very beginning.

The difference is that this is the 3rd party promising it's support, not the machine makers speaking for 3rd parties.

Yes, but this isn't a story about Nintendo promising 3rd party support, it's actual evidence of that 3rd party support. I'm not sure how many games count as "good 3rd party support," but considering how many we've already heard about prior to launch (and the fact that more seem to spring up each day, albeit all from Ubisoft), there actually seems like there's substance behind those promises this time.

**edit**

crikey, beaten to it.

Nintendo said GameCube would have better third party support than the N64 - and it did. GameCube's third party support was MUCH better than N64's.

Twice as good, if not more. Too bad so many shunned N64 fans like to overlook this fact.

I have to agree. The Gamecube's third-party support has been much better than most people think. Just look at the famous "Capcom Five" (Resident Evil 4, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, P.N.03, and the canceled Dead Phoenix). These games alone belong to the most original and best games of the last generation.

I believe that the next PoP game will start a new story arc, so the story across the previous three games can be considered finished. Not a bad way of handling it, in my opinion.

Oops I think Nintendo just stole a lot of money I was going to give them.

...they better not milk it though, same character, new direction and I'll be happy.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of my top 5 favorite games, ever.

Is there a compiled list of all announced Wii launch titles? I see in the referenced article that Ubi has a LARGE number announced. I'd like to see a full list of everything we know already.

Why is Far Cry and Blazing Angels a big deal to be announced on Wii? Next gen games with worse graphics? Not too impressed with that. I am glad to see great third party support but c'mon let's put new games on there.

I like my next gen systems to step up in the graphics department. The Wii idea (motion controller, etc.) is great but how fast will the novelty wear off? How soon until the system has to rely on making good games and not re-releases of old games with a new controller?

I'm still only 80% sold on the Wii. I'll be picking one up but, so far, I'm not chomping at the bit.

Mostly because there were three arguments aganst the Wii, a holy trinity of anti Wii sentiment, if you will. The first was that the new control scheme would not work well. E3 pretty much put that one to rest. The second was that there would be no third party support. This article kick that to the curb. The last one is that the Wii won't have the horsepower to create "next gen graphics", whatever that means. Jury's still out on the third one, but two out of three ain't bad.

Next gen games with worse graphics?Blazing Angels and Far Cry are available for the original Xbox. Wii is more powerful than the original Xbox. Why would the graphics be worse?

Anyone remember Prince of Persial games? Nice looking, eh? We are in an age when very nice-looking games can be made on any system.

I didn't say the controller wouldn't work well. I said I wondered how long it would be until the novelty wore off. I thought the Eye Toy was a lot of fun for the first couple months, too. ;)

True, the Wii may be more powerful than the current XB but, from what I've seen, it's not by much. I'd compare it to the jump from VHS to DVD except in this scenario DVD would be just slightly better in picture quality than VHS but the new DVD player remotes have chapter skip buttons! Wow!

Again, I'm not hating on the Wii. I'll buy one before I buy a PS3 but I know I'm not the only one out there thinking that, other than the "old skool flava", Wii still has to get over the novelty concept.

Wait... are you saying that the switch to Wii is like a switch to DVD? Cuz we all know how poorly the VHS-to-DVD shift went.

/still has a VHS player
//only has two VHS's (Superman III and The Little Mermaid... wtf?)

You are a strange little monkey if you were amused with the eyetoy at all, let alone for months!

DVD has a whole host of advantages over VHS. More reliable media, multiple languages, skip tracks, no rewinding, etc. The move to HD movies offers no such incentives aside from better picture quality.

Wii is much more versatile with the controller. As long as Wii is on the market, developers will find new things to do with it. I'd argue that you are right. The Wii is much more like the move from VHS to DVD while the PS3 is much more like the move from DVD to HD movies.

As Xenkylm pointed out, the format switch to DVD was one of the most successful format changes ever. DVDs were adopted at an astonishing rate.

lol some people can't read. Oh wait, it's fanboy vision.

I never said (again) DVD was only marginally better than VHS. I said "in this scenario", IE: hypothetically. And, hypothetically, I compared that hypothetical switch to the current Wii launch. And...you know what, I don't know why I'm even trying to hold even a marginally logical conversation here. I'm in a fanboy thread.

My apologies. Go about your glistening Wii thread as if I never appeared.

...Why the fuck did you make the comparison then? If you say VHS to DVD, people instantly think "Great improvement! Wonderful!". There are many other examples you could have made.

"I think the best comparison is the Civil War. ...Except in this version, Abe Lincoln was a hippie, the war was over who had distributing rights to pizza, and it was Canada who won."

Edit: Also, to the one who made the 'milking' comment...

Explain to me, please, how re-using the same character wouldn't be milking, but making an entirely new setting, cast, and scenario would be?
