Evil is busy working the graveyard shift and playing Mr. Mom so I'm trying to help out a bit more around here. So with that comes our first new forum (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16) for Subscribers only. Not only will we be talking about super double secret probation top secret stuff...but we'll be posting a few subscriber only contests in there. Don't worry our regular contests and upcoming ones will still be available to all of you!!

So if you want to join in on the fun and support our site, subscribe (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/subscriptions.php?) today!

Not to detract from any effort or merit on implementing a new feature, I know how managing a website can be. However, as a rule, dislike "subscriber only" forums. It just fractures the userbase. I guess I just don't see a reason to split people up, even if its "just for fun".

QFT, I feel the same way, if the yellows start seeing stuff like "Read my post in the Subscribers Only area!", the Civil War won't just be a comic book storyline this summer.

I'm sure certain 'leaks' could be found in the subscriber forum, for a price. :p

Well the problem is we really want to give back to those that give to us. This is a way of doing it without making too many people angry when we announce something in there.

The nice thing is...users won't even see the subscribers forum in the forum list. I think for the most part people are going to continue to post in the normal forums, the subscribers forum is a way for US to communicate with them.

No doubt. I don't see the subscribers forum as a big deal. Personally I know I'd be creating my threads in the normal forums anyways.

It should be automagic. For some reason it didn't work, send Evil a PM with the email address you used for paypal and he can fix you up.

One nice subscriber only feature might be giving us the ability to upload pictures. Posting to imageshack type places then pasting a URL can be a bit of a pain in the ass.

Im sure GrinR would love this option, given his animated gif fetish.

Then again, I suppose this depends on how much space you guys have server side.

I agree, this would be a very useful feature. If storage became an issue (though hopefully this feature wouldn't be abused), maybe it would be possible to set an overall storage limit per user.

Sounds good - I subscribed.

I read this site enough, whether or not I actually post on it, so I'll donate. Maybe it will be incentive to post!

I'll let you know how long it takes me for orange status, DoctorSetebos.

EDIT: Okay, instantly. That works.

Mmm, while I'm all for supporting a website that you use and enjoy with more than your own personal unique IP I really can't say I'm too fond of giving "certain people" the ability to have or do things that others who choose not to pay money can't.

It just snowballs, is all I'm saying.

Donate link off the main page on the left hand side. Plus, since donations can range from 5 or 10$ up, im sure you can accomodate your budget.

Finally donated today. I'd been meaning to do so for about two weeks after I got my credit card (first one ever, with a nice low limit so I don't go apeshit with it) and this was the kick in the rocks I needed to get of my ass and do it. Not that I really care about a subscribers only forum, I just want to be special...

I think EA is plenty big enough that this won't be a problem. I can't be the only one that thinks that many of the discussions have become pretty darn crowded over the last few months. It's almost impossible to keep up with all the ones you are interested in, and then many of them quickly explode into 300 post monsters which discourage cogent conversation. Given how large the readership has become and how fast many of the threads grow, I'm pretty sure EA could survive a minor (and optional) split in discussions.

You can pay with your credit card through Paypal without creating or having a Paypal account. I felt the same way because I thought I needed a Paypal account.

The point is not supporting paypal, at all.

Throw on google checkout or something.

Yeah, I finally donated too. I've been meaning to do that for a long time... I'm just a serial procrastinator, what can I say. Good enough reason as any though. But I did a max bet to make up for it if that counts!

Now I really need a creditcard, guess I'll visit my bank (again) after my next paycheck and ask them (again) to sign up for a credit card (again). I guess I should do that, only last time they denied my application because I only had a weekend job. I guess I could try. September, I need you.

EDIT:: It's like Evil Awful or Something Avatar.

So now we possibly pay for features, not just to support a website? Fucking retarded. I wouldnt have a problem "subscribing" but I had serious issues with Paypal in the past and refuse to use it again.

They've got a well documented history of general sucktitude.
They're quick to freeze an account and very, very slow to actually remedy the situation.

No...everyone has access to the same features. There are certain "incentives" we would like to give our subscribers as a thank you for donating. That is all. You will not be locked out of ANY CONTENT on this site ever for not donating. The forum is simply meant as a lines of communication...and for goats.

I'll echo what bap said, this site is free and it will always be free. We are just trying to find ways to "give something back" to the people who help to keep the page free. (And help keep it free of nasty stuff like page blocking ads and/or pop-up ads like you find everywhere else).

EDIT:: It's like Evil Awful or Something Avatar.More like TotalAvatar. (why would anyone subscribe to Fark of all places?!)

Anyway, if I ever donated to this site, the reason would NOT be so that I could go to a special forum to feel superior. It would be the same reason it's always been -- this is a great site and I'd hate to see it swamped with obnoxious ads.

edit: I would definitely be more likely to donate if there was an alternative to PayPal

Echoing the anti paypal sentiment.

I've been on the verge of donating for a long time, but both paypal and the fact that spare cash is very limited has held me back. I don't want to donate the dodgy $5 amount, so I'd rather do it when I have a good amount of spare cash floating around.
