Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net) brings word that a Kameo "Power Pack" download is in development and gearing up for release. The pack will contain numerous updates, including expert and time attack modes, a new two-player game, 15 new achievements (!!), and worldwide leaderboards. From the article (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=66524):

Expert mode will include six re-jigged versions of existing levels made rather mode difficult by the inclusion of bigger battles with enemies decked out in new armour. Playable alone and with a co-op partner, the levels will call on all ten of your Elemental Warriors' abilities.

No word yet on a firm release date or price. This is kind of cool, although I'm not sure how I feel about the releasing new achievements after the game's been out for this long thing.

This is great news. I love Kameo and it's cool to have more to do in its world. Love the idea of new achievements as time passes to add more replay to a title. Hopefully it's free, but I'd be willing to pay for it since I enjoyed Kameo so much.

i saw this the other day. i'd have preferred like a new level or something.

i'm really curious about the achievements. i'm curious if they're just zero point achievements that you could use for bragging, since Kameo didn't use all 50 of their achivevements, or if they've set some new standard for addons to give you points.

I'm excited for the co-op. The 15 new achivements? Uh...Not so much. But then again I'm not that other dude who regularly posts here and gets all worked up over them.

Judging by how much content is there, I'm guessing it'll be a paid download.

That's a VERY good question.

In development? It was supposed to be released last month. I'm not complaining, but I have to wonder what is going on, and how relavent this news is. Also, the price on that flyer that came out a couple months ago listed it as 400 points, but that flyer has proven unreliable (it priced Street Fighter 2 as 400 points as well).

Anyhow, eagerly awaiting it's release, I plan on buying it.

Why would people be bothered about additional achievements?

If you're into the achievement thing, I'd think you'd be happy. If you're not into it, then no worries there either.

Now, if you're somebody who just plays for the achievements and then sells your game, or just gets achievements on rentals, you might have an issue. That issue is with your game purchasing habits---hint---not with them adding new achievements to Kameo.

Oh, nevermind, I get it. The issue is that additional achievements are potentially only available to those who purchase the addon.

Hey Xbox dudes, can you confirm one thing for me? From the shots I saw Kameo has *extremely* impressive texturework, we're talking high-res PC level here - is this true for the entire game (all environments, creatures etc.) or only chosen textures are in high-res.

I was very, very impressed with screens I saw - bumpmapping everywhere AND high-res textures.

Kameo is gorgeous. The lighting and texturing is some of the best eye candy on the 'box. Unfortunately, the character models needed some work (you can see triangulation on a lot of the faces).

Kameo looks cool, but the normal mapping gets a bit much after a while. Kind of the way everyone was with coloured lighting when it showed up. It's a bit over-used for my tastes, but it's still a great looking game.

It plays pretty well, too. Not as refined as a Mario64 or Sly Cooper, but pretty solid. It only has a couple of Rare's classic "cheapshot torture the player" type sections.

I had a lot of fun with it, but I'm not sure I need a full helping of it on some sort of "expert mode". ;)

That's a nice way to get your numbers up. Just release more achievements for a small price and suck up a little more cash. I expect pretty much every game to start doing this now.

I don't know about technical details, but Kameo is by far the most impressive of all the 360 games I have played or own. And that includes Oblivion, Perfect Dark, Call of Duty, PGR, and Condemned. Part of this I am sure is just that the artwork is artistically beautiful. But I imagine it is "technically" impressive as well. All I know is that it impressed me far more visually than any other 360 game.

That would be my issue, actually, and I don't see why it's a problem on my part. I should qualify: 90% of the time I do not play just for achievements, BUT I tend to buy (or rent through Gamefly) games, complete them, and then either trade them or send them back to Gamefly. That's how I've always been and always well be. Of course I recommend that I run the risk of missing out on additional content now, but that doesn't mean I can't pout about it a little. Not like I really bitched.

Fuke. Dude's right. Ka-ching.

I’m lucky enough to have the money to buy all my games. In general, if a demo impresses me I’m more then happy to fork out for the full-priced game.
As I own all these games myself (if you see it on my profile, I own it) I am extremely happy to see continued support for them. I paid full price for Kameo and the chance to pay a few bucks to completely reinvigorate will be more then worth it for me.

Over all, I love the downloadable content system, and have snapped up the GRAW add-on and several of the Oblivion downloads. I will get anything that I feel adds significantly to one of my games.

it seems to be that they shipped half a game last year.. this is the 2nd major release for the game, and not just some additonal maps or some shit like the others.

More than likely they will be 0 point achievements, like the Live Co-op Achievements they added with the last update. I am pretty sure the 1000 point limit is still in place.

Wouldn't really do a thing for your Gamerscore, unless your one of those people who care about the number of achievements themselves rather than the points.

WTF? What was that sound?

Was that the sound of a penguin screaming?

...What other major release are you talking about? They have released three costume packs, and the co-op add-on (which was free).

yeah, it all seems like they are putting shit in that should have been there to begin with. Adding co-op? That's just weird. First I've ever heard of a "co-op" add on. Screams pushed up release date.
