I'll be getting Dead Rising right away. I'll also download Pac-Man eventually. Not sure when.

Dead Rising. I might go crazy and start my search on Tuesday. Last time I tried that was with NSMB, with absolutely no luck.

I'll be honest, I really wasn't impressed with the Dead Rising demo. I think, though, that its a fault of the demo and not the game. There was really no cohesive story element in the demo, there were none of the civilians that you're suppossed to be able to save or let get eaten, and I didn't notice any of the RPG elements (though I may just not have gotten enough points to level up). Those are the elements of the game I'm interested in. I'm probably going to wait on a price drop before I pick it up.

I might rent Dead Rising first. I've had a lot of fun so far with the demo, though, so maybe I'll buy it. I've been bleeding cash horribly as of late and I really need to stop. Summer fun is expensive.

It was briefly fun to look for every possible weapon to use vs. the zombies, but only briefly.

Hopefully there is a mix of zombie types and/or situations so that you don't just always favor the same weapon. The knife was great for killing quickly and not overextending yourself into an animation that would leave you open to attack. Between that and the shotgun, I didn't need anything else. It was funny to kill them with gems, though the gems were quite weak.

Dead Rising is a strong rental, IMO. If the RP elements are good enough, the rental might translate into a purchase. The demo wasn't exactly anything spectacular. At least, that's what I thought.

Definetly gonna try to pick up Dead Rising this weekend. I love the demo, and I've played it many, many times now. I'm most interested in the mode where you survive as long as possible... I plan on making my stand in the juice bar.

EDIT: Also, I had very little interest in buying this game before the demo came out. I had some interest at one time, then it waned, but this demo sold the game to me. It also knocked Saint's Row right off my list of priorities.

so, let me get this straight: (according to amazon) you guys get dead rising August 8, 2006 and saint's row August 29, 2006. (according to eurogamer) the UK gets saint's row September 1, 2006 and dead rising September 15, 2006. i wonder why the switcharoo?

are volition UK-based? i guess that would explain...

i think i'm gonna have to get saint's row and leave dead rising 'till a bit after it's released ('till i've gotten bored of the row at least) - seeing as it'll be out so much sooner.

There are over one-thousand unique weapons in Dead Rising? And the demo had how many.....only twenty or thirty?

Sign me up! I loved finding new ways to kill mindless zombies...

I must have played the Dead Rising demo at least 100 times this weekend. Just yesterday, in fact, I managed to get to level 11 with like a minute left to spare before the time-limit ran out.

What's kept them out is the licensing mess. For all of the Super Robot games that have anime mechs in them, there are 3 or 4 different companies that own the rights to those. That makes it an expensive pain in the ass to bring the games over.

Atlus, however, is bring over another Super Robot game based on the original design mechs. Haven't heard what system or details about it, though. It was just in a news article about them getting the rights to bring over 2 games.

Sealab and Dead Rising are on the menu.

Inside Man was a pretty quality flick as well. Might pick that up.

Well, according to the meter you start at lvl 10, but looks like you don't gain points in the demo, although it tells you when you do. That's from killing enemies or taking pictures. Also having certain books in possession power up specific weapons differently. Also, mixing foods in the blender gives you drinks with certain abilities. To me, that shows a lot of RP this game is incorporating.

Awww, sad....I'm hoping Atlus manages to wrangle something and bring the other ones too. My friends back East got me really into the SRW series and mecha in general, especially the old school stuff. Only problem is that even if they were brought over most people wouldn't know who about 80-90% of the characters are.

As long as I can eventually do some double god-voice with Raideen and Rahxephon, I'm a happy camper. ;) But for now let's hope Original Generation I and II do well enough to warrant bringing the rest of the series over.

I'm hoping this OG game can sell well within the states. Then Atlus will have an excuse to continue the series here.

Now here's hoping for a decent translation.

Seconded... and I was just starting to respect Cage, too.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know if that Pirates game is related to Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat? Because that was a solid title.

The Dead Rising demo was awesome. I was completely hooked once I found the golf clubs in the sporting goods store. I also liked how environmental elements could be used, such as heating up the frying pan on the stove to make it more lethal, or using the blender to make more potent edibles. And how weapons acted distinctly and appropriately, like the plastic sword and water pistol being next to useless but still entertaining to use.

I was torn between dropping my bucks on this or Saints Row, but after the demos, Dead Rising is the easy choice. Viva la demos!

I hope they release Ms. Pac-Man on XBL, because I love the ladies.

As to World Trade Center, if it's a good movie, it's a good movie. Being that it's Oliver Stone, I'll probably see it eventually.

I played the Dead Rising demo over the weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised. On the surface, the game seems like it would be a shallow button masher...but it's got quite a bit of depth...and more importantly it's FUN.

I tell ya, Dead Rising is the one game that is tempting me to buy a 360. It just looks so fun. I'm tempted to pick up a copy in the inevitable eventuality that I do get a 360, but I need to save for other games for systems I actually own.

Definately a tempting purchase though.

Pulse looks interesting, but I'll just wait for the DVD. Other than that... Yawn. I might rent Inside Man when I work the overnight shift on Thursday but otherwise yet another slow week. Huzzah! I can spend too much money on comics instead!

Anyone else find the Katana in the Dead Rising demo?
(Go upstairs, through the Columbian Roastmasters and jump out the first window and land on an awning with the Katana.)
Katana = Best (real) Weapon in the demo. Slices through those zombies like nobody's business.
Also, running a shopping cart through 100 zombies is good times.

I'd say that's become the killer app for me for it. When I got my bonus I considered for a couple minutes to blow it all on a 360 so I could get Dead Rising when it came out, but then I decided I needed to be responsible and pay the bills instead. Stupid responsibilities.

Also, running a shopping cart through 100 zombies is good times.I hadn’t found the Katana. Did you put the frying pan on the stove until it got heated up? You can burn zombie’s faces with it. There’s also one erotic zombie that gives you bonus camera points.

I had expected the game to be lame (like State of Emergency) but after playing the demo, if my roommate wasn’t getting it, I would be. At some point in the final game (in the mode with no time limit) I'd like to try to disarm the whole mall using coat hangers.

Not to be troll bait, but I am sick of Mr Stone.

Being that it is Oliver Stone, I expect an over bloated whale of a movie. NBK was the only thing that I really liked of his. At least repetitive violence is mind numbing.

Alexander? Please, please hire a film editor. Just because you filmed it, doesn't mean it needs to go into the final film.

I'll take Dr. Strangelove's Kubrick as my movie director hero. Almost all his movies kicked ass, with the sad ending exception of Eyes Wide Shut.

Damn you Tom Cruise. Damn you to hell.

The original Pulse was one of the best Japanese movies I've seen in years. Although it has ghosts and deaths, I don't know if I'd classify it so much as horror...it's a lot more psychological and bleak. Absolutely stunning.

From the trailers, it looks like they turned the American version into a slasher flick. Bastards. I seriously hope I'm proven wrong, but am not holding my breath. If you like smart movies that make you think, don't spell everything out, and you don't mind subtitles, track down the Japanese version on dvd.

(And game wise, I am definitely picking up Dead Rising tomorrow.)

I wasn't able to convince my wife that a 360 and a copy of Dead Rising was a rational purchase when we hit the mall today, but I did get a copy of the Dungeon Siege 2 expansion (yay! I'm now in an elite club of 4 people actually interested in this) and also picked up Brian Keene's Conquerer Worms & City Of The Dead on the recommendation of you crazy folks. These had better be some good books!
