FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com) is hosting the debut of the Lego Star Wars II (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/legostarwarsii/) demo this Monday for both subscribers and non-subscribers. Have a look at the official announcement (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/legosw/).

Kick Some Brick!
Build and battle through the Original Trilogy in LEGO®
Star Wars™ II! Play through a fun Star Wars galaxy that combines the endless customization of LEGO with the epic story from Star Wars Episodes IV through VI.

Now with LEGO Star Wars II for the first time ever you can

Mix and Match Characters: Create and customize your own playable Star Wars characters in millions of different ways.

Build and Ride Vehicles: Build and ride classic Star Wars vehicles and get in and out to explore! Plus, ride creatures!
Also, play with a buddy with drop-in/drop-out co-op! I enjoyed the hell out of the first title, but as a word of warning, it was largely unplayable on the PC without a control pad. Here's to hoping the controls got reworked a bit for the sequel.

I want my XBL Marketplace demo, that'd be pretty damn nice.

I want it to be PC only. Whaddya think about that?

I can't believe how easy computer controls have got for me. I played a decent amount of the first game with my keyboard.

I think they'd like to make more money with their game, probably, sir.

I had no trouble with the keyboard controls on the PC. Two player would have been awkward though.

Dang...you sucked me in thinking it was on XBLA; oh well.

No, no one wants to make more money. Nah, never.

I've always been curious about that though. How much more money does it take to make a cross platform game, and is it always worth it? As it stands, a PC game can be ported over to the XBox pretty easily (relative term) because of DirectX. It seems like a lot of developers would be put off by porting to the GC/Wii or PS2/3 from the PC. Of course, how many PC games are also cross platform (beyond the 360)? Not many as far as I can tell.

I'm only on the first episode of Lego Star Wars, started just yesterday, but I'd have to say it's a novel idea. I don't know how well I like the game just yet, however. What was the draw of Lego Star Wars for people who have played through the game? What made the game fun?

I might pop it back in today because I only was able to play it for a little bit. I've beaten Kameo and now I'm looking for another game to dive into.

Well, the game is coming to the 360 as well, so chances are, a marketplace demo may be on it's way.

I don't really see what the issue is--how may people have a PC and are interested in this game that DON'T have at least one gamepad? I've got 5 or 6 laying around myself. Of course, I'm a big fan of old console emulation, so perhaps I overestimate the prevalence of gamepads among PC gamers. Still, even if you don't have one, you can pick up a decent USB gamepad most anywhere for $10 or less, so it shouldn't be a big deal regardless.

I just can't imagine they waste the dev cycles in coming up with a control scheme for the PC that's substantially different from that which will be implemented on consoles. (Now the Wii, on the other hand...)

I never played the first LSW, but after reading a preview of this one in EGM I'm intrigued. I'll probably end up getting the GCN version at some point.

Keyboard controls are not that bad, I played the first one to 100% with the keyboard.

I am looking forward to this too, as the first one was obviously fun for me and this one can only be better with the better movies for context.

I thought the first one was a great platformer with a good amount of difficulty and just the right amount of stuff to unlock and collect. Hard enough to be interesting but only rarely frustrating.

Sadly they'll probably be charging full price for this one, even if it doesn't take advantage of the 360.

The only thing I didn't like about Kameo is that it was one of the few games I really felt was too short. There are way too many powers and creatures and you really don't even have time to explore all of them. Many times you get 2 or 3 per dungeon. I would have liked to have seen it spaced out more and have the dungeons built around the abilities and puzzles using them (like Zelda), but it certainly is better than the opposite problem (a game that drags on and milks every concept to pieces). I'm sure alot of this was because of the rush to launch and there was probably a lot of stuff on the cutting room floor that didn't make the transition from original Xbox to 360. Regardless, it has me looking forward to Rare's next platformer.

I just hope it sold well enough to justify MS giving them the green light on another one (Banjo 3 perhaps?--that would be fantastic). I am moderately interested in Viva Pinata, but the microtransaction element really, really turns me off. And really I'd rather leave Animal Crossing to Nintendo. I only need one of those types of games and they really do it best.

May I suggest Prey?
Plus the level design is pretty good, at sometimes puzzling, but otherwise the visuals are top notch :)

I actually played the first Lego Star Wars demo, with my little brother on my PC. However, there isn't a hole of space at my desk, and both my little brother and I are over 1.90 meters tall (around 6.3), and overweight.

Suffice to say, it wasn't a tight experience.

The Logitech Cordless Rumble Pad 2 is a pretty good PC pad.

Make your little brother lose wait now, while he still can. Before it's too late. People don't get thinner with age you know.

Uh, what? I think you're confused somewhere. Let me reiterate. STAR WARS LEGO 2 (what this article is about) is ALSO COMING TO THE 360, hence a demo on marketplace is likely.

I believe you somehow confused my comment to refering to the original game for some reason?

(And yes, I used caps, because I've got a headache, sorry.)

Edit: I just reread your comment. I realize what you meant now was that this game, being multiplatform, won't take full advantage of the 360's hardware and will still have the "full" price on it. Which is likely, though I'd assume it'll be priced the same as the PS2/Xbox versions anyways and probably have some cranked effects to boot. We'll have to see though.

Ugh, I really need some sleep.

I don't know anyone who didn't like LEGO Star Wars, it was really the ultimate mass-market game, that also had some depth to it, humor, hidden things and co-op, even though it seems to be one of the most underrated games out there.

It's still one of the best Star Wars games.

I never played it. But I've yet to meet a person who has and won't shut up about how good it is. I'm sure I'll get around to playing it one of these days.

I just wanted to quickly point out that ebgames.com has this listed for the 360 at 49.99 so it appears we aren't getting screwed, for once.

It's a great game to play with that burgeoning 6 or 7 year old gamer in your life; the controls are fairly simply, the puzzles and levels not really that difficult, and in the co-op mode, it's fairly easy for a more skilled player to "pull" a less skilled one along the correct path. Plus, there's very little penalty for dying (or, as in the case of LSW, "falling to pieces"). Very, very young child friendly game; second only to "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" easy mode, in my experience.

Currently there's none of those, all the kids I know of are only 3-4 range, not yet quite ready for semi-advanced gaming.

Yes, except that the PS2, GC, PSP & XBox versions are only $39.99 so the screwing continues. And this is a game that really doesn't need the $10 "next-gen" surcharge for sure.

It's not "for sure" since we know nothing about the differences between the versions yet. Passing judgement at this stage is only speculation.

I had this on the xbox and played the HELL out of it, I may pick up the pc version this time since I'm waiting for the 360 price drop. I only have on outdated gamepad lying around, superlame. But I'm keen on forcing myself to use controls.
