There's a ton of news pouring out of Wizard World Chicago already, but I'll be trying to gather up the really interesting bits to bring to the EvAv community over the weekend in a series of small updates.

First off, Newsarama (http://www.newsarama.com) has an interesting talk with Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction (of Casanova fame) about their upcoming Immortal Iron Fist series. They also have info (http://www.newsarama.com/WW_Chicago_06/Marvel/wonderman.html) on Peter David's wonderful-sounding Wonder Man: My Fair Supervillain mini-series. There's also info and solicitations (http://www.newsarama.com/WW_Chicago_06/Marvel/whatif.html) for a number of new What If? one-shots coming out this winter that will re-imagine some of the biggest Marvel storylines of the past couple years. More to come tonight and all weekend as WW: Chicago continues.

Immortal Iron Fist with Fraction AND Brubaker? A Wonder Man mini by Peter David based off of My Fair Lady? Good god, count me in for both of these. My poor, poor wallet.

As an up and coming Matt Fraction fan, I may have to read that, dispite my dislike of superheroes.

Peter David is the most uneven writer on the planet. I first discovered him when I looked at my buy pile at the store and realized every title I was buying was by him. (Supergirl, Young Justice, Spyboy) But then when I specifically go to buy his stuff I wind up with some real stinkers.

Warren Ellis is the same way.

Iron Fist and the What If? books sound good to me. I was also happy with the news about another Power Pack series, as those are fun titles that are good for pretty much anyone.

Is Fraction gonna quit Cassanova to do this?

At least Iron Fist, in the past at least, has been a little less super-hero-y than other heroes. Plus, it's also Brubaker, who's too good. And Fraction's not going to quit Casanova, at least not that he's announced. I don't see why he'd have to. He's also doing a Punisher book coming up.

I completely disagree about Peter David. Most of his stuff I've read is his recent stuff, but almost all of it I've loved. The only one I'd call even sort of uneven is Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and far as I'm concerned that's mostly because of them forcing him to start as part of the horribly uneven Spider-Man: The Other crossover event. What of David's don't you like?

Ellis can be a bit more uneven, but I still tend to think his stuff is great far more often than I think it sucks.

I'm just got home from Wizard World a couple minutes ago. me and ChamberX (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/member.php?u=5390) (of "Mighty Ink Comics" aka that link in my sig) have a table in Artist Alley. I should be able to check out some of the exclusives tomorrow though. If I hear any cool news, I'll be sure to pass it on to you guys first! :D

Oh a couple game related things I did see, Sony had a playable demo of God of War 2 at their booth but I didn't have a chance to check it out yet. It looked to be just as good as the first though. Starbreeze had a playable demo of The Darkness running on 360 as well and it looked friggin amazing. I'll see if I can take some pictures and get some hands on time tomorrow.
