GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com) is reporting that Duke standout J. J. Redick will be the cover athlete for 2K Sports' upcoming College Hoops 2K7.

You can read the full article here (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6155007.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6155007).

Chances are, anyone who has watched college basketball over the last four years has heard the phrase, "Redick for three!" The Redick in question is of course J.J., the Duke Blue Devils superstar who has won numerous awards, including multiple player of the year trophies.

Add one more honor to the long list of Redick's accolades--cover athlete for 2K Sports' College Hoops 2K7. Redick, who was drafted by the Orlando Magic in the off-season, will also serve as the game's spokesperson, temporarily putting to rest that his marketability was tarnished by a DUI charge in June.

He's such a dick, but I'm a huge Duke fan so I can't complain.

What has he done to earn him dick status, Wyrm? He's gotten more shit than any college player in history - and he still performed at that level extremely well.

He was arguably the "best" player in college basketball last year, and was easily the most well-known (not including the DUI). Why shouldn't he be on the cover of College Hoops 2k7 again?

You answered your own question! Why not Adam Morrison? I'm not aware of any DUIs in his career.

Take him off Duke and he's average at best. That other "white guy" is and was a much better player.

maybe because jj is the leading scorer in the history of the ACC and the leading 3-point scorer in NCAA history. and he doesn't cry before the game's over. and yea, take him off duke and he magically forgets how to shoot too, right?

Wait....don't put him on the cover because of one DUI? He blew a 0.11, which is ONLY 0.01 higher than the old legal limit (granted, 0.03 over the new limit of 0.08)!

It's not like I'm pulling for O.J. Simpson to appear on the cover of Maddon 2008...

I've just heard he's a prick. And he looks like a prick. There's no question that he's a good player.

I'm actually a sports writer (and radio host - but that's a tale for another day) - I have to delve completely into the matter to be halfway decent and I've never heard that.

But, you know what? If he was a prick to anyone, I could understand it. Nobody in college history has had to put up with the shit he has.

Morrison is a better basketball player than him. Don't really see how this is even an argument, it's obvious to any person who knows a damn thing about basketball.

Shut up. Seriously, just shut up. You don't know what you're talking about.

Redick may not be the best at creating his own shot (you don't need to be exceptional at that in college to flourish), but he was hands down the best shooter in college and definitely one of the best pure shooters in college history.

He's not an exceptional athlete, but enough to compete at an NBA level and he's shown that he can hit the big shot.

(And I hate Duke!)

yea. you can tell that to the press and coaches who voted redick player of the year, who i'm sure don't know anything about basketball. but you're right, its completely fair to compare a 6'8" forward to a 6'4" guard. shooting % wise and scoring, they're about the same. morrison has more rebounds, redick has more steals. morrison has a garbage assist/turnover ratio. point out how moustache is "obviously" the better player. this year was by far the closest 'player of the year' battle in a long time, so its a moot argument anyway.

As far as the NBA goes, wouldn't you rather have Morrison? Reddick seems like the kind of guy who will need the right situation to succeed -- if Darko and Howard command a lot of attention, then Reddick could carve out a nice living as a spot up shooter a la Kerr or Hoiberg. If not, then you might have the second coming of Trajan Langdon. Morrison at least seems capable of being at least decent on a crummy team.

i won't argue that. nba wise, it takes a different, more athletic type of player to succeed, which morrison is more of. i'm not 100% convinced though that he could still carry a team in the nba, and in no way am i saying redick could either obviously. but you're right, redick and howard could have a nice in-out game going. you're not leaving jj open, it's that simple. darko on the other hand... i dunno about him. he's got a lot to prove this season.

I think the important question is, what is a player who's not even in college doing on the cover of this years NCAA hoops game?

Reddick deserves the credit he gets. He worked his ass off, played like no one else, and lead his team. The dui wasnt until after college anyways. I am not a Duke fan or even a JJ fan, but the kid has game. Morrison is fucking little whiny bitch if I ever saw one. He complained when he didnt get the ball, he complained about refs, he cried like a bitch for not making the olympic squad, and I am sure he will cry in the nba. If JJ was getting hacked or not shooting well he would just run the floor and pass the ball. Morrison was the only decent player on his team which lead to the assload of points he got every game, Duke was full of talent yet JJ was consistantly better than any other player in the ncaa.

YOU STILL OWE ME A COLLEGE HOOPS MATCH BOOTSY, EVEN IF I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2K7 IS RELEASED!!!!!!

The same reason Reggie Bush is on the cover of NCAA Football 2007: Last year's teams.

Redick is a great shooter, but that's about it. Morrison on the other hand, he can shoot, pass, take you off the dribble, and D up. Redick is just too one dimensional.

Redick will be the classic duke flop.
