GameBrink (http://www.gamebrink.com/) reviews and translates a hacker DS game
Project Hacker is about how a university student named Satoru Amatsubo and his childhood friend Rina Kokubo get dragged into the world of IT crime when they accidentally pickup a rogue program disk designed to corrupt a mobile phone network. Being chased by a group of criminals, the two go to the police for help but, without proof of their claims about the criminals the police wouldnt believe them. It was then that Satoru decided to put his great hacking skills to use to find out who the owner of the disk was. Little did he know that the top IT crime organisation, GIS already had an eye on him for accessing government servers without authorization. Eventually both Satoru and Rina are offered to join the GIS for his skills to help solve IT crimes which include unauthorized bank transfers, changing hospital karte data and hacking into an airports control system.

I personally think the next Grand Theft Auto should be about white collar crime of the Office Space variety... just a lot more severe...

Interesting site. I'm surprised the game got a somewhat low review. Now why couldn't we get games like this one (http://www.gamebrink.com/nintendo-ds/1559-Magical_Vacation_5tsu_no_Hoshi_ga_Narabutoki-reviews.html) in the US? *sigh*

You'll be happy to know it is coming to the US this fall as Magical Starsign :)

Haha, yea. Instead of killing one hooker and the police catching you, you screw over 100,000 employees and their families and then the police catch you.

Sure. It could take place circa 1999/2000 and involve a flailing .com and lots of enron-like drama. Your guy could be a gordon freeman-esque twenty-something who realizes that his college degree and napster-like entreprenerual skills have gotten him nothing but more debt than he can ever repay and a bunch of people who want him nothing but dead.
I'd play it.

HAX TEH PLANET!!1!
I would be up for a game of white collar crime and cynicsm. Or a game where you run a dotcom and the end goal of the game is to be the last one standing, by having the slowest burn-rate or becoming profitable.

I'm trying to figure out if your confusing it with another game or trying to make a bad joke. I think I'm going to go with the former. Magical Starsign is an RPG set in outer space, not this game.

I know that, I looked that up on Gamespot this morning already when I posted.
Hang on, ok, I'm the one that got confused then. I overlooked the link in NoName's post, I thought he was talking about Project Hacker. My bad.
