I am excited about this, however I wish the Total War team had decided to do a new era/civ rather than revamp Medieval. It'll be fun, but it will get old much quicker than all of their other games.

I cannot wait for this, simply cannot wait. Do we have any reliable idea of its release date? I hope we do not have to wait until the Christmas season.

The release date is set around Oct-Nov sometime, dunno exactly i have seen various European release dates, 24 Oct, to like sometime in Nov so who knows, hopefully they will release a Demo sometime in the near future :D

I cant wait for this, i am glad they went back to Medieval times, i loved that game but with its new Graphics Gameplay and everything else it wil be awsome, i wont get bored of that, but i can relate to those who are not soo hapy about the idea of going back to medieval period it just depends on what you prefere. i prefere medieval period to that of Roman or any other.

Should be great none the less!!!

I recently played a bout of Medieval, took the Viking expansion campaign and romped through Britain looting and killing. It was great! :)

Me want, I hope they eventually they jump to the next time frame of combat and set it up around the 1600s-1800s. Even though huge walls wouldnt work against cannons, I still think it would be cool to have a game that revolved around infantry ranks with muskets.

I agree there, I like the Napoleonic era (however the spelling) that would be a fun era, especially with the regiments marching in formation and such like and then the fireing of all the muskets and the smoke.... cool....they should move there or somewhere just as good....it would take me back to the good old Sharpe Days :P

and see I don't. That was a time when purely ranged combat was still new and really hadn't been perfected past the level of "retarded." That would be like having a Total War: Trench Warfare. Lining up in neat lines and shooting one another? not exactly what one might call sophisticated tactics. Also, the Total War engine doesn't really fit with "gun combat."
There are, however, still many different civilizations and eras of time where melee combat was at it's finest, and Total War fits melee combat like a glove. I think Total War should stick to what they are good at.

Yes it could have its problems, but I think it would add a great element to game play. The gun technology wouldn't be that advance, so you could still see some fixed bayonet action and Calvary could play some role in the fighting. But it would have to be the pre-trench era, because that would be boring as hell.

Musket warfare would also be boring as hell

Read the tactics section and imagine the game. That just sounds boring to me.

Play cossacks 2, they had the right idea, but they didnt have the proper funding. But it was still fun. I think the total war series could accomplish it.

granted, I am only speculating on a possible game.
However, musket warfare is a stupid idea in and of itself (note my comparison of trench warfare) and I don't think a game about it would be a good idea.
