Thanks to our July Subscribers: Erik Bush, Panda Love, Blain Riley, Nick Budziszewski, Keith Miller, Robert Rose, Nikolai Mohilchock, Gabriel Isenberg, Jeff Baxendale, Kevin Carpenter and Roger Harford Jr..

August is our annual Subscription Drive. If everyone could please dig deep and donate (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/subscriptions.php?) some money to the page it would really help us out. Our goal is to cover as much of our $2500.00 hosting bill as possible. That money goes right to the fancy new server - this is the new server that even kept us online when we got Wanged by those funny guys at Penny-Arcade (http://penny-arcade.com/).

I'm a little confused at the pricing and what you get. There are some that are for 1 year and are 35 and others that are 1 year for 10. Also, what do you get besides an orange name? Not trying to be mean here, and I love this site and giving is a gift in and of itself, but I was just curious if there was other stuff is all. I will probably give anyway, though I could probably only do the 10 or 5, but just wondering.

They should all be for 1 year except the $5.00 donation and the $50.00 (and up) donations. The only reason they expire in a year is as a gentle reminder that every year we have to pony up the dough for hosting costs. (Which more than doubled when we moved to the new server.)

If someone expires and they still want to be an Orange name I will extend their Subscription for another year.

All you currently get is an Orange name and the ability to set your own custom Forum Rank. When we upgrade our software, if there are more features we can make available to subscribers we will make them available.

It is really just a way for the regular readers to help keep the page up and running during those months when advertising doesn't cover our costs.

Yes, your fear of PayPal is illogical. I've been using them for years as both a buyer and a seller without incident.

There is always a fear when you buy something via an online auction that the seller might try to rip you off - that is just what happens sometimes and PayPal can make that easier on those people, but you can usually judge those things using their Ebay feedback.

For one time credit card transactions (like an Evil Avatar.com donation) they should be totally secure, but I would also recommend them for Ebay use.

That is the approximate cost for an entire year of hosting. I paid a bunch of money on top of that a few months ago when we upgraded the server. I think I paid close to $800.00 for the upgrade, including a couple of months of hosting.

The site is pretty cheap to operate overall, but obviously we are past the point now where I can run it with no advertising and/or donations.

Still, I would work one overtime day a month just to keep the page online and not give it a second thought. The community here is just too cool to let slide over money.

If the email address you used to donate isnt the same as you registered for this site, I think you need to PM Evil ( or maybe one of the other reds ) what email account you used and what email account you use here, and he will get it fixed up.
